A wet walk along Titchfield Canal

I love finding new places to walk, places where the kids can stretch their legs and explore new things. My friend showed me Titchfield Canal last year. It was in the summer, however the route was still quite muddy, part of the walk went through a field with no gravel path.

Since then the council have added a new path through this part, making it a great route to take. Well, that was until it rains bad!

As you can work out by the name, the path runs along the canal edge, a beautiful walk with water to one side and open fields to the other. However just at the end of the path is the main road, so easy to get to, and a real hidden gem.

The path is situated off Bridge Street Titchfield, straight after the houses, with a small car park on the right hand side. If you follow this path all the way along you will find yourself at Titchfield Haven/Beach. However currently we couldn’t make it through!

I knew that it was going to be flooded, I thought what a great game for the kids! All togged up and wellies on we headed off to find the biggest puddle we could!

To the kids disappointment the first part of the walk was clear, no puddles! However there was a great bridge with lots of broken sticks to play poo sticks with.

Berkley was happy too, an open space to chase his ball around! They have also put in new wooden steps so the dogs can get in and out of the water easily. However my dog is a bit of a wimp and doesn’t really like getting his paws wet, let alone his body!

Then we found what we were looking for, a HUGE flowing puddle!

Even better when you can run straight through it!

They were soaked! Water poured out of their wellies and we had to peel their leggings off them! We had a couple just stood looking at them running through, with a face of disbelief that I was allowing them to do this. How can you not smile when you see kids having fun?

They were so happy, lots of laughing and had great fun, it’s only water at the end of the day isn’t it. Everything can be washed and dried.

Now that looks like the perfect puddle to splash through, I can never understand the looks other people give you when kids are just enjoying nature and the fresh air. I’m sure this walk is perfect all year round with big puddles to splash through at this time of year and the beach at the end in the summer. I bet the kids are begging to get back out there and enjoy the puddles before they’re all gone. Thanks for linking up with me on #CountryKids.

I lived just down the road form here until a month ago – sob! You’re making me homesick 😉 That walk has been improved so much since I was a kid – it’s a lot less muddy. Tin Box Dog loves diving in the river. We can’t stop her! And there’s some lovely traditional pubs to warm up in back in Titchfield. Alternatively if you can get to the seafront there’s yummy coffee and cake to be had at the Titchfield Haven Visitors Centre by the sailing club 🙂 #CountryKids

We love big puddles to run through! How can you not let them splash and have fun, just strip off and dry back at the car. I do think some people, often those without kids don’t understand what it’s like to be a kid again. However all the grandparents that see us tend to smile and comment on how much fun the boys are having. Thanks so much for commenting on #Whatevertheweather 🙂 x

This is the biggest puddle I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s so cool!!! My daughter and I would have hours of fun splashing about and running through this. I love a good game of pooh sticks too. I really love this time of year, getting outdoors, getting some fresh air and making the most of the mud and the rain and the puddles. It looks like they had so much fun. Thank you so much for sharing with #whatevertheweather xx
