Our weekend in pictures, a little diary of what we get up to at the weekends together.
This weekend is a little different though, it was Easter weekend which meant a long weekend together. However were weren’t alone! We had a lovely weekend away with our friends, and their children in The Cotswolds.
Friday 14th April 2017
The journey was only a couple of hours, so we arrived about 3pm. We were staying at Barncastle, a stunning barn set in the countryside, but with easy access to some great places.
Just take a look at this place….!
We were blown away on how nice Barncastle was, and were so excited when our friends turned up so we could fill the barn with lots of fun!
Saturday 15th April 2017
Saturday arrived, and the kids woke up full of even more excitement! We had a day of fun planned, and after the morning of getting 9 of us ready, picnic packed and out the door it was about 11am!
So we headed off into the Forest of Dean, I have never visited this area before but was looking forward to visiting Symonds Yat. As you can see from the link, it looks lovely…..however there is two sides to Symonds Yat! We went to the wrong one, on the wrong side of the river, and it didn’t look anything like that!!
So we carried on with our day, and headed off to Puzzlewood. Puzzlewood is one of the places that Star Wars was filmed at, so this was going to be right up my sons street (and hubbys!) It wasn’t a let down, it was amazing!
So many places to climb, explore, secret places and paths to follow. It was really magical, and the kids LOVED it.
This took us a couple of hours, and some very tired legs later, we still didn’t want to head home yet though! So we picked a place to visit, Beechenhurst Lodge, a lovely countrypark with an adventure playground, and sculpture trail. This place looked really fun, and us adults could sit and have a drink and the kids were happy to play for a while longer.
Sunday 16th April 2017 (Easter Sunday)
We were up EARLY…..the Easter Bunny had visited over night and left eggs all around the barn! The kids spent 15 minutes running around the house finding all the kids and then sharing them out between each other!
Obviously we didn’t think the kids had a enough chocolate, so we headed out to a National Trust venue to do an Easter Egg hunt there! We picked Woodchester Park, note it is very hilly!
As it was a National Trust place, they had a lovely Easter Trail on. The kids followed the play trail, and found letters to spell out a word. Along the way there was some great play equipment for them to play on. A super fast zip wire was a success!
They we were rewarded with a great chocolate bunny at the end!
So if that wasn’t fun enough, we headed off to Bristol Science Museum. This place was amazing, right up the kids street, with hands on activities for them to do. My twin girls were buzzing, and had such a great time. The older ones loved it, and got so much from it and would have easily spent another couple of hours there.
I love these bubble pictures of the girls playing with HUGE bubbles!
Bristol Science Museum is well worth a visit if you are near the area. 5 happy kids, and 4 very tired out adults!
Back home for a very yummy roast dinner made by hubby, and our final dinner together.
Monday 17th April 2017
We didn’t want to leave Barncastle, we have made some lovely memories, and isn’t it lovely that there 5 have created some lovely memories together. They will remember their holidays away with us, and all the fun thing we got up to. Very special.
