Our weekend in pictures, a little diary of what we get up to at the weekends together.

I don’t think I did too well with the photo taking this weekend, I had a weekend away with hubby and I kind of needed a switch off weekend. However I did get some!

Me and Hubby had arranged a lovely weekend together, alone! The kids were kindly being looked after by my friend one night and then my Mum the next night. We were so excited, we hadn’t had a night away on our own for 2.5yrs. We arrived on the Friday night, and by the morning after a terrible nights sleep, we were ready to go home already!

Friday 24th March 2017

I couple of snaps from the Friday, when we arrived we went for a little stroll around Sherborne. It’s such a pretty town, and lots of little ‘ladies’ shops!

Saturday 25th March 2017

We were so disappointed with the accommodation when we arrived. It was unsafe for the dog, no where for the dog to go to the toilet easily, tired, dirty and freezing cold when we arrived (it was a building at the bottom of the owners garden, so didn’t take much to turn the heating on). We had a terrible nights sleep, I was so sore from the uncomfy bed and the heating wasn’t able to be regulated so I was boiling hot all night. I was pretty grumpy!!

However we wanted to visit the area around, the sun was shining and we were going to make the most of our time together. We headed off out to Montacute House for a walk.

There was a farmers market on, so we purchased some very tasty cakes for later. However hubby got tempted by the cream teas in the cafe too! I snapped this picture and sent to my parents at home to show them what we were up to!

So I got this one in return!! They headed out for cake too!!

Little Lily had a party to go to, she went off to a pamper party, and Pizza hut party. Although I sent her with a pink cardi, pink tights and little pink party shoes……they didn’t seem to make their way there with her!!!

Montacute House had some lovely grounds for us to walk the dog around, Gus enjoyed a stretch of the legs and a bit of sheep poo to snack on!!

We headed back to the house to get ready to meet our friends. However there was no instructions on how to use the heating or hot water, so I had a cold shower before we headed out! Although this shower didn’t make me feel very happy about having a shower in there anyway!

We had a lovely meal with out friends, Gus had to settle under the table whilst we ate. Although he got some dog biscuits to keep him happy!!

We decided that we wouldn’t go back to the holiday house, it wasn’t very nice and I wanted a shower in a clean shower! So we headed home.

Sunday 26th March 2017 – Mothers Day

My Mum had the children for us still, so we had a lay in and breakfast in bed. It was funny without the children around me on Mothers Day morning, however we got ready and headed over to collect them.

It was nice to have lunch with my Mum, and the kids had picked a Daffodil from her garden for her. I was meant to get a picture of me and my Mum, but forgot.

Once we came home, the kids gave me all my lovely presents, I think they know I like sweet things and dogs!!

Everyone was so tired out from their busy weekend, and sleepovers that we had a chilled afternoon. I NEVER stop and just watch TV. I usually am doing something on my phone, or my laptop. I usually feel guilty if I am not making the most of that time. However its Mothers Day!! So I caught up on 2 weeks worth of The Voice that we had missed, and drunk tea!!

Next weekend is back to a calmer weekend, I think we will all need it!!

If you don’t already follow me on Instagram I also post a daily picture, and at the end of the year I put them together into a Photobook.

Aw that’s so rubbish that the accommodation was bad but it looks like you still had a great time. Lovely photos 🙂 x

  2. What a special weekend, Sherbourne looks like a beautiful place! I hope the poor accommodation didn’t spoil your experience! The cream tea looked yummy! Thank you for linking up to #PointShoot

    • Sherborne was beautiful, I would happily go back there without the kids for a proper look around the cute little shops.

    • I know we were so lucky to get some time together, made us realise how important it is to have that time together every now and again.

    • It was really lovely, we had the dog so couldn’t go in but I will be next time.

    • Yes it was nice to spend some on my own with hubby, and the weather was beautiful #thinkpositive

  3. Yay to a child free weekend! I don’t think I’ve ever been to Sherborne despite not living very far away.

  4. It was so nice to see your pictures of Sherborne. My Gran lived there and worked at the Girls Boarding School. It is indeed a beautiful place and I used to visit for the summers during school holidays. Wow, seeing those photos has really brought back fond memories. Thanks for sharing. #PointShoot

    • Ah how lovely, it is a BEAUTIFUL place. The buildings are amazing, and I had door envy!

  5. So sad your accommodation wasn’t up to much. Lovely little place though to visit and glad you got spoilt on mother’s day

    • Sherborne was lovely, and so pretty. I am glad we got to see it, even if it was after 6pm and everywhere was shut!

  6. I’m sorry that your sleep and the shower were so uncomfortable. But what beautiful place to roam!!! There is absolutely nothing like that anywhere near. It’s a dream of mine to be able to see things like that.

    • We have a National Trust membership, so it gives us access to these places. It is so nice to be able to find out all the history of them, and just to relax in the grounds.

  7. Oh what a treat to have a kid free weekend away – such a shame the accommodation was disappointing. Hopefully the cake, location and warm welcome when you got back made up for it.
