Our weekend in pictures, a little diary of what we get up to at the weekends together.

This weekend is a little different though, it was Easter weekend which meant a long weekend together. However were weren’t alone! We had a lovely weekend away with our friends, and their children in The Cotswolds.

Friday 14th April 2017

The journey was only a couple of hours, so we arrived about 3pm. We were staying at Barncastle, a stunning barn set in the countryside, but with easy access to some great places.

Just take a look at this place….!

A large stone house with a gravel drive, gabled roof, and wooden central section sits among shrubs and greenery under a cloudy sky—captured during week 19 for our weekend in pictures series. A cosy living room with wooden beams, stone fireplace, beige sofas, and large windows—perfect for unwinding. This inviting space sets the scene for a memorable weekend in pictures as we share highlights from week 19. A stone house with large windows sits beside a well-kept lawn. Two children run across the grass, captured in weekend photographs, as rolling green hills and trees stretch into the distance under a cloudy sky.

We were blown away on how nice Barncastle was, and were so excited when our friends turned up so we could fill the barn with lots of fun!

Saturday 15th April 2017

Saturday arrived, and the kids woke up full of even more excitement! We had a day of fun planned, and after the morning of getting 9 of us ready, picnic packed and out the door it was about 11am!

So we headed off into the Forest of Dean, I have never visited this area before but was looking forward to visiting Symonds Yat. As you can see from the link, it looks lovely…..however there is two sides to Symonds Yat! We went to the wrong one, on the wrong side of the river, and it didn’t look anything like that!!

So we carried on with our day, and headed off to Puzzlewood. Puzzlewood is one of the places that Star Wars was filmed at, so this was going to be right up my sons street (and hubbys!) It wasn’t a let down, it was amazing!

Two children in purple jackets are playing on a muddy, sloping forest path surrounded by rocks, moss, and trees. Captured for "weekend in pictures," one child slides down the slope whilst the other stands nearby. Five people stand on a rustic wooden bridge surrounded by dense, mossy forest, posing and smiling in a natural woodland setting—a perfect snapshot from our weekend in pictures for Week 19.

So many places to climb, explore, secret places and paths to follow. It was really magical, and the kids LOVED it.

A person stands on a wooden bridge in a dense, moss-covered forest. Large rocks, trees, and branches are coated in green moss, capturing the serene beauty of nature for Week 19 of our weekend in pictures series. A dirt path with wooden steps winds uphill through a lush, green forest. Twisted branches form natural railings, and two people sit at the top of the steps—an idyllic scene from our weekend in pictures, week 19.

This took us a couple of hours, and some very tired legs later, we still didn’t want to head home yet though! So we picked a place to visit, Beechenhurst Lodge, a lovely countrypark with an adventure playground, and sculpture trail. This place looked really fun, and us adults could sit and have a drink and the kids were happy to play for a while longer.

A young girl rides a zip wire over a playground covered with wood chippings, smiling and holding on tightly. Trees and a wooden fence are in the background under a partly cloudy sky—capturing the joy of Week 19’s weekend in pictures.

Sunday 16th April 2017 (Easter Sunday)

We were up EARLY…..the Easter Bunny had visited over night and left eggs all around the barn! The kids spent 15 minutes running around the house finding all the kids and then sharing them out between each other!
Five children sit in a circle on a rug, playing with small toys and figures in a cosy living room with wooden floors and sunlight streaming in—capturing the joy of a weekend afternoon for our week 19 pictures.

Obviously we didn’t think the kids had a enough chocolate, so we headed out to a National Trust venue to do an Easter Egg hunt there! We picked Woodchester Park, note it is very hilly!

Children walk across a fallen tree acting as a bridge over a dry, shallow ditch in a green, wooded area. Captured during week 19, the weekend in pictures shows children exploring uneven ground and tall trees with sparse undergrowth.

As it was a National Trust place, they had a lovely Easter Trail on. The kids followed the play trail, and found letters to spell out a word. Along the way there was some great play equipment for them to play on. A super fast zip wire was a success!

They we were rewarded with a great chocolate bunny at the end!

So if that wasn’t fun enough, we headed off to Bristol Science Museum. This place was amazing, right up the kids street, with hands on activities for them to do. My twin girls were buzzing, and had such a great time. The older ones loved it, and got so much from it and would have easily spent another couple of hours there.

I love these bubble pictures of the girls playing with HUGE bubbles!

Bristol Science Museum is well worth a visit if you are near the area. 5 happy kids, and 4 very tired out adults!

Back home for a very yummy roast dinner made by hubby, and our final dinner together.

Monday 17th April 2017

We didn’t want to leave Barncastle, we have made some lovely memories, and isn’t it lovely that there 5 have created some lovely memories together. They will remember their holidays away with us, and all the fun thing we got up to. Very special.

If you don’t already follow me on Instagram I also post a daily picture, and at the end of the year I put them together into a Photobook.
