Whilst we were on holiday in Copenhagen, Denmark last month we visited Tivoli Gardens. This day out was ALL of our favourite days, and we made some lovely memories together. If you’re visiting Copenhagen, I think you must visit here, no matter what age you are. with or without children.
Our Day At Tivoli Gardens
From the moment you step into Tivoli, you will be greeted by friendly staff, stunning gardens, and beautiful buildings. You have to take the time to explore everywhere, and we could have easily had another day there!
I mean look at that building! This is one of the first things you will see when entering Tivoli from the main entrance, the gardens are stunning, and everywhere is so peaceful.
Tivoli first opened back in 1843 and is the second-oldest operating amusement park in the world. I think our amusement parks in England need to pick up some tips from Tivoli!! You don’t feel like you’re in an amusement park as everything is spaced out, peaceful areas to explore, and lots of things to do, other than rides.
This is a little boating lake, but the skyline is filled with a huge rollercoaster!! None of us were brave enough to do that though!!
Gardens
You don’t even have to go on any of the rides if that isn’t your thing, you can pay just to go in the gardens and not on any rides. They have large stages that have ballets, dance and theater show to put on. As we left come the evening they had ballet on and people were arriving dressed up for an evening in the gardens, and shows. There were deckchairs on the grass in front, and bars open for drinks. I can imagine what a lovely evening this would be.
Rides
However, if rides are your family’s thing, then purchase an unlimited rides pass. This is extra but you can go on all the rides (except the large roller coaster) as many times as you want.
The queues were short and we spent no more than 10 minutes in a queue which is so nice with kids. You can fit lots of rides in, the kids are happy and don’t get bored. It just didn’t feel like a money-grabbing place like our amusement parks. It wasn’t the attitude of lets ram in as many rides as we can, and getting as many people in as possible. It was about creating a lovely atmosphere where everyone was happy.
We went on a lot of rides, but didn’t get a picture of each one! So here are some of them, and ones around the park.
As you can see there is a nice mix of big and small rides, so it keeps everyone happy. If you only wanted to go on a few, then you can pay just to have access to that ride only. So a pay-as-you-go style ticket.
Food
As in all amusement places, the food is expensive, and so is Denmark! We went to Woodhouse burger place as this was classed as one of the lower-priced restaurants. We all had the burger, drink, and chips meal deal. Kids got a frozen yogurt too with theirs. It came to £103 for all of us!!! Now that is expensive, but we had treated it as our treat, and we don’t do this very often at all. However the food was very tasty, and no complaints at all.
Evening Times
If you can stay till the evening, then do! Tivoli comes to life at night. With the whole place being lit up with lights everywhere, music, shows, and ballets. Check the website as there are also fireworks on some nights. We sadly couldn’t stay till the evening, left about 7pm and the lights had been turning on, and it already had a lovely atmosphere.
Can you imagine sitting here with a lovely drink and the fire pit keeping you warm?
Overall
We loved Tivoli and so did the kids, it was the best place we visited, and would 100% go back!
*We paid for the tickets ourselves

This looks like such a wonderful place to explore and really does look like it has something for everyone there, it’s not often amusement parks will tick that box! All the rides look like great fun and that there’s plenty for families of all ages with lots of slower rides and some faster ones. I can see why you would all want to go again, this may well be added to my bucket list for a visit one day!
Very very beautiful, and I wish I could go back in the Winter as it sounds amazing then too
