Hedge End in Southampton used to be a quiet little village with just your local village shops. When my parents moved to Hedge End over 40 years ago their house was surrounded by fields, well not anymore!
Hedge End was known for its strawberry fields but you have to look further afield to find a strawberry field now.
Hedge End is growing thick and fast at the moment, from new housing, new roads, parks and new shops.
The most exciting new shop to arrive in Hedge End for a long time has just arrived this summer!
We have been privileged to welcome the 2nd largest NEXT store in the UK to Hedge End and I think most the locals have been really looking forward to this store opening. Well I know the mum’s in the school playground certainly have been!
Not only has it created 150 new jobs, gauging by the excitement on their Facebook page I think it will be bringing lots of customers from far and wide to our local area.
This new store is an impressive 60,000sq.ft which is spread over 2 floors, it is a very beautiful building made from limestone and granite. You won’t miss it from the main road!
Upon arriving you are greeted by friendly reception staff, yes you did read right, this store is so big it has its own reception desk!
It’s not every day that you see a plant pot that large!
You have access to lift areas, stairs and escalators from here which leads you to 2 floors of stunning items.
They have included every section that you will need for every room of your house, it is really lovely to see rooms laid out with all the bits and bobs put together. You can see and touch their items that you don’t usually have the chance to from the Next directory. I think they have pretty much everything they sell in this store.
You can purchase kitchens, beds, sofas and even summer houses for the garden.
They have even catered for your garden, you can purchase plants, stones, compost and beautiful hanging baskets all made up.
That is just the home part (which for me is the most exciting part!)
You can even purchase clothes there!!
If you’re looking for shoes then you must take a visit here, they have a very large collection in all different colour versions.
The whole store has such a lovely relaxed feeling about it, I could honestly spend hours shopping in there.
Once you are all shopped out there is a Costa coffee in store as well to recharge your batteries!

NEXT then gave me a lovely treat, and whisked me off to visit the 5* hotel and spa, Chewton Glen.
This hotel is set in 130 acres of beautiful grounds, with children’s tree houses, outdoor pool, croquet lawn and lakes.
I was taken for buffet lunch which was very healthy but very tasty (it is possible!)
Then I had full use of the spa, although this isn’t any old spa this is 5* luxury spa. Sauna, hydro pool, hot tub, pool and well equipped changing rooms.
I was offered a 60 minute treatment and as it is my birthday coming up I thought it would be a good idea to get my feet party ready!
So a luxury pedicure was in order and it was pure luxury. I now have beautiful toe nails and smooth feet.
If you need a 5* hotel then do look this one up, it is the most amazing place and you won’t ever want to leave.
*I was given a complimentary tour of NEXT and a visit to Chewton Glen in return for my views, however all opinions are of my own and I have even been back to the store already!

That sounds amazing Steph! I’m very jealous you got to look around the new store and have a pamper as I’ve always wanted to go to Chewton Glen. Next is my favourite shop when buying for the kids (and me!) so I hope I get time to pop in before we move to Australia next month! xx
Well if there is anything you need then it will have it! It is HUGE!
