There is currently one room in the house that isn’t affected by the house extension, and that is my bedroom. It’s my retreat and where I often spend my evenings in bed watching TV or working on my laptop. So it’s been very important to me that it’s a peaceful room, and with our grey and white colour scheme, I feel I can switch off easily in this room.
Whilst renovating our house I’ve found window dressing to be one of the most challenging parts. I’ve found it so hard getting curtains that fit perfectly, the correct colour, favourite fabric and then making sure the header to go on the curtain poles are correct. I’ve never looked into getting curtains made for our rooms, thinking I would need to find a local seamstress and it would be too difficult. Well, I shouldn’t have been concerned!

They offered me a chance to review a set of their bespoke curtains and I instantly thought of my bedroom. Being a larger width window I struggled to find off the shelf curtains that fitted both widthways, drop and had the correct header to fit on the curtain pole. So being able to customise my curtains to fit this space was a perfect option for me.

Couture Living has a very easy to use curtain designer on their website, which allows you to change each part of your curtains to suit your requirements. With each change you can view the price as well, allowing you to have full control over the costings.
Couture Living has a very quick and easy guide to measuring your curtains correctly, even helping you with how far above the radiator they need to be. Very handy for us as I never knew the best measurement for this!
Fabrics! Well, you have a super large choice of fabrics in so many different colour choices, it’s really hard to pick from! However, you can select to review a sample of the fabrics you like. My suggestion if you have a budget to stick to, would be to see what the costings are for each fabric you like before you select the samples choices.
I sat them next to my wallpaper and bed to see what fabrics I felt worked with the room, and I was very surprised that I loved a fabric I wasn’t so sure about when I saw it online.
I decided to go with the fabric on the far right, it’s the name Anshu and fabric colour Steel.
Time Scale
My curtains took about 2.5 weeks from ordering to arriving but I was kept updated throughout the process, from fabric inspection to being made, then dispatched. This is so important as it makes you feel involved in the process and updated when orders don’t have an immediate dispatch.
Delivery
I wondered how the curtains would survive the postal service and how creased they would be when they arrived. To my surprise, they were in perfect condition.
Couture Living has thought about this and has folded them in a perfect pleat which is how they will hang. As soon as I lifted them out the box they just stayed in a perfect pleat.
Quality
WOW, just WOW! These curtains are too good for words, I cannot explain enough how stunning these are. Having only ever had high street ready-made curtains hung in our house I’m going to do my best to get better quality ones for the rest of the house. I am a convert!!
As soon as you hold them, pull them back, close them, you can feel how well made they’re. The weight of the fabric allows the curtains to hang beautifully, and at each seam, there is a weighted disc in them to hold them down and in shape perfectly.
Couture Living has a band of highly skilled craftspeople based in their specialist workshop in the UK who know how to make stunning curtains. Just looking at the stitching and finishing of these curtains just shows you how well made they are.
Blackout Lining
As our curtains were going into a bedroom I wanted to make sure the lining was blackout. My husband also works nights shifts at times so being able to make the room as dark as possible is a big must-have for our bedroom curtains. They work a treat and make the room super dark and he sleeps really well in this room. Even with a house extension and walls being knocked down!!
Range Of Headers
Couture Living offers a range of different headers to your curtains. I picked an eyelet header as I have found this is the most hardwearing and allows the curtains to sit the nicest. They look super neat and very sturdy.
Final Feelings
I am in over the moon with these curtains from Couture Living, each and every time I open and close them I appreciate the quality of them. They’ve really finished off my bedroom and now my husband is sleeping well (even with a house extension being done!)

I wish we’d researched this more when we moved in. The previous owners took the curtains but also the pelmet – which was made to measure for the bay window – god knows what they needed it for. They really finish your room off. Love the blackout option too.
