Are you looking to find a way to clean your outdoor tiles? I have used this way to clean patio tiles for the past few years and they always come up so nicely, even after the winter mud and dog paws. Cleaning porcelain outdoor tiles seems scary, but this is a great way to clean outdoor tiles and get them looking sparkling for the spring!

We have lovely porcelain tiles for our garden patio, I really love them and they look very pretty. However, during the winter they really get grubby with our dog going back and forth and the garden gets so waterlogged.

So spring and the warmer weather were the way, it was time to get it cleaned up and ready to start using. This time last year we were out there all the time and it was so warm, so hoping the nice weather arrives soon (it’s trying to snow as I’m typing this now!)

How I Cleaned My Outdoor Tiles – BEFORE

How I Cleaned My Outdoor Tiles – AFTER

A clean, modern patio with large light-coloured tiles, a covered outdoor umbrella base, surrounding white planters with green plants, and a small lawn area in the background showcases sparkling clean outdoor tiles for a fresh look after winter.

Pretty impressive isn’t it as it didn’t take much effort as well. You could go over it a couple of times if you wanted to but considering how easy it was I will do it more regularly throughout the year. I do have an outdoor spray mop that I use to keep on top of the walk-through.

So How Was It So Easy To Clean My Outdoor Tiles?

  • I sprayed down the outdoor tiles with water all over

  • I picked up a box of BIO washing power from Tesco but any brand would do.

  • Sprinkle all over the outdoor tiles, I did a little too much in this area as I was trying to film it as well! But lightly sprinkle all over and with the patio wet it stops the powder flying around.

What Washer Did I Use To Clean My Outdoor Tiles?

I used the Karcher K2 which was my Mother in Laws, so I hadn’t used it before but it has the attachments included. It included the one with the pointy nozzle which can be pretty touch on surfaces. But this one comes with a surface brush which is a large disc with bristles on it. This was brilliant at cleaning the dirt off the outdoor tiles.

It just glided along the patio tiles with ease and scrubbed off the dirt so easily. I was super impressed and it was pretty satisfying!

There seem to be quite a few newer Karcher pressure models than this one now, so would imagine they’ve got even better too. It was really lightweight as well, so wasn’t too tricky to do and I have a bad back and found it was easy enough to do.

  • Go all over the patio with the Karcher pressure washing and it’s all been scrubbed

A wet tiled patio, freshly cleaned using outdoor tile cleaning, is bordered by green plants and a white wall. Soap suds linger near a black umbrella stand and a potted tree resting on a black mat in the corner.

  • Once it was all scrubbed down, it was off with water again. I have stoney edges to my patio so the water just runs off into these, but if it sits on this it doesn’t matter as it cleans the stones down too.

Then leave it to dry and try not to stand on it or let any dogs on it before it’s dry….they will leave paw prints on it!!

Oh wow, that’s such a big difference. I will tell my parents to try that too. Their outdoor tiles need cleaning.

    • Thank you, it was a lovely job to get done! Hope they have sparkling outdoors tiles after!

  2. It is amazing what biological washing powder can do. My mother in law once told me about cleaning carpets as it gets rid of smells. The tiles look wonderful!

  3. What a great idea. That is so satisfying! I must admit I do love a good clean and enjoying the results afterwards – that has worked so well.
