Whilst we were on our holiday in North Devon we visited Lynton and Lynmouth. It is such a beautiful place to visit and we had such a lovely day out.
Lynton and Lynmouth is within the Exmoor National Park with high cliffs, beach, rocks to climb and the cliff railway.
I remember going to Lynton and Lynmouth when I was a child, I remember going up the cliff railway and thinking how amazing it was!
So I wanted to take my children to experience the same thing, we did only have the twins with us as T was off watching my nephew go kart racing, T has been on it a few years ago so he hasn’t missed out!
The cliff railway is powered by water and weights, when loaded, the drivers use pre-arranged bell signals, unlock the safety locking device – then both cars brakes are released. The lower driver then discharges water (if required) to make the top car heavier. Sometimes this is achieved with the weight of passengers alone and no water is used. The top car then rolls down the rails – at the same time pulling the lower car up.
The children find this fascinating to watch alone but then when they are riding up the hill and reach the top they cannot believe how high they have got!
These photo are taken at the top at Lynton but watch the video to watch us going up the cliff.
This was taken at only half way up!
Then we had to get back down again!
Lynton and Lymouth is a great place to explore, you could spend all day there finding different places, eating ice creams, fish n chips and playing in the park.
My twins loved it there, they said they had a wonderful day out and would love to go back again.
Please watch my video as you get to see all the things we go up to and how happy the twins were running around.
