Marwell Zoo Brickosaurs

We have Marwell Zoo about 20 minutes from home, it’s a lovely place to visit for a day out, and if you had an annual pass it would be a great place to head to for a walkabout and picnic. I wish I had done this when mine were all toddlers and it’s such a safe and child-friendly place to go. 

Our last visit to Marwell Zoo was this time last year to see the Tropical House and we had a perfect day that day. We went back this to meet some Dinosaurs! 

Marwell Zoo Brickosaurs 

Marwell Zoo Brickosaurs is a fantastic expedition to find all the LEGO Dinosaurs around the zoo. They’ve been created with more than two million LEGO® bricks.

Marwell Zoo Brickosaurs is being held at Marwell from 5th April – 1st September 2019 so there’s plenty of time to visit and see if you can find some Dinosaurs!  

When you first arrive you’re greeted by some very noisy crates…… this was brilliant and all the kids really took an interest in them and weren’t sure what to make of them!

At the start of Marwell Zoo you can pick up the Brickosaurs Guide for a donation or you can download the app to use.

I loved that the Dinosaurs were placed within Marwell Zoo but not detracting from the animals. It meant the kids were all quite happy to explore the park and see the animals, but now and again we would come across a brilliant Dinosaur made from LEGO!

At each Dinosaur there was a little information sign, my eldest son liked this part as he was able to find out how long it took to build, how many people and how many bricks.

Apart from the big T-Rex dinosaur! Here you can guess how many bricks were used and then you can enter the competition over on the Marwell website to win a family tour of Bright Bricks in Bordon.

Also, keep an eye out for Colin! He gets moved around the Zoo and when you share him you can tag and share the hashtag online! 

We didn’t find him, but it’s pretty hard when they all look like Colin!!!

Fun In The Zoo 

Marwell Zoo is filled with so many animals and I am always happy to see that they’re always well looked after, clean inclosures and look happy. It makes it so nice to walk around with the children and get to see some of them up close.

I could spend the whole time picturing the animals in the zoo, but keep an eye on the feeding times at the start as the animals will be most active then. 

Tropical House 

Last time we visited Marwell Zoo we went to the newly opened Tropical House and things were a little quiet in there. Not anymore! There were some stunning looking birds flying around

Look all around as hidden down the end was some chrysalises with a Butterfly just emerged 

We were also fascinated with the leaf cutter ants, you could see the full run from picking the leaf to making their mud and nest. 

Ice Creams 

We were very lucky and it was a beautiful day with some lovely warm weather. There are a few cafes and ice cream vans dotted around the zoo. So we found a quiet little spot overlooking the Zebras to have our ice creams. 

Play Areas 

There are some great play areas too for the kids to run and burn off some more steam. 

Exploring All Areas 

I think with Marwell Zoo there are some more hidden areas that you don’t notice when walking through the park. So keep an eye on the signs and paths leading to more areas. 

Feeding Time 

We finished up the day by watching the Penguins being fed, and a random duck who came in and managed to get a fish to eat before the Penguins! 

We love Marwell Zoo and I could happily visit here throughout the year to see the animals, but having the excitement of the Brickosaurs event makes it even more exciting for the children and gives them something to follow around the zoo too.

        Dino’s and Lego, can it be any cooler !!! What a zoo ! It looks amazing,my gosh if I lived near it I’d be there all the time ! A great day out by all accounts !
