Simple flower craft for children

When I saw that Tots100 had their March Center Parcs challange and the theme was ‘Painting Flowers’ I knew that my kids would love this one! We had the perfect craft to use our painted flowers for, Mothers Day!

Nana and Grandma had some wonderful cards coming their way!

My girls can never decided on a colour they want to use, they love every colour in the rainbow so trying to decided what flower they could paint was our first challenge.

We looked at all the different flowers we could see in our garden, on our walks and on the school run. They just loved them all! So I can up with the idea of a multi coloured flower!!

This is a really simple flower craft for children to do, toddlers, pre schoolers and older children can do this. Younger they are the more help they will need with cutting the petals out.

I was able to lay out all the different coloured paints and they could go mad with all the different patterns and colours they wished!!

S could paint lines, stripes, faces, people and blobs!

L wanted to paint rainbows!

Once they finished their masterpieces we left them to dry. You must remember to paint one sheet in all green for the stalk and leaves.

We then could cut all the petals and centres out of the sheets of paintings to make our multicoloured flowers.

Then get your card and fold it in half, draw around the largest cut out centre, cover the pencil line in glue and start sticking on the petals in. Add more glue on to layer up the petals. Cut out the stalk and glue this on before you placed the smaller centre circle on top. Add on your leaves

and it is finished!

Grandma and Nana will be over the moon with their cards. The girls loved their multi colour flower cards!

T wanted to make a flower card for his Great Auntie, she has been in hospital this week having a hip replacement and he wanted to cheer her up.

We used one of the tips that Center Parcs Creative Crafter Emma Hull gave us

‘Find materials around the house to add to the painting, giving it a 3D effect’

So looking around the house we decided that we get through lots of loo rolls! They are easy to paint and only going to be thrown away.

Tyler picked the colour paints he wanted to use, and painted them all over, inside and out.

Once they were dried he cut lines into each ends of the loo roll, leaving a middle uncut section and folded back the cuts as petals.

Tied a knot in the end of a pipe cleaner and pierced a hole in the middle of each loo roll.

Threaded the pipe cleaner through the hole from the inside out and pull through.

Then get some shredded tissue paper and stuff inside the flower

Then spread some glue on the tissue paper and the petals and hopefully they will stick to your card!! We were not sure if the flowers would stick so laid something heavy on top of them until the glue had dried.
