This year myself and the family decided that it would be a lovely idea to get together for New Years and celebrate Christmas together in a holiday house, the search for a holiday house started……..sounds like it would be easy but not when you are looking for somewhere along the south coast that can sleep 16 people and doesn’t cost the earth!!
So four families got together and had a fantastic time! Rusty came along too which was a fantastic experience for him. We ended up getting a thatched cottage in Somerset Wayside House it was a lovely house and it was a perfect size for us to all spread out and have our own rooms. The girls and Rusty had to share with us but they didn’t mind! The big kids had a ‘boys’ and ‘girls’ room so they were able to all spread out do what kids to together until the early hours!! The dining table seated 14 and we managed to squeeze two more on which was great as we could all sit together for a meal each night. Apparently they are putting in a swimming pool this year for summer 2014 so along with the tennis courts as well the gardens are lovely and perfect for a summer get together.

The house was walking distance from the top of the Quantock Hills, well 7 miles worth of walking and approx 280 meters up! I was so proud of the twins as they walked all the way to the top, I think their new ‘Magic’ walking boots like mummy helped!!!

We visited Minehead beach a couple of times as it was a sandy beach, lovely and open and great fun for all! As the weather wasn’t the best it also meant that the dogs didn’t get completely cover in red clay mud!! T has learnt his lesson that if you stand near the water’s edge when there is a storm coming and the waves are pretty rough that you soon will be drenched and will have very soggy feet! Rusty had a fantastic time though!

My sister got this photo of Rusty and my cousins labradoodle on the beach! He was jumping up and trying to get the ball that was in his mouth!!
I didn’t get many more photos though apart from my little ladies at 11pm on new years eve, they had such a lovely holiday that they just couldn’t handle staying up to midnight, they really wanted to! So when we took them upstairs we said ‘Happy New Year it’s midnight’ bless them they were happy it was midnight!!!
