Do you love home interiors and want to share your interior style with others? But not sure where to start? I will help answer your question about ‘Tips When Creating Home Interior Content?’
I have been sharing my home renovation for the past 9 years, and I’ve shared many styles and ideas across my blog. Some with success and some definitely not! But it doesn’t matter, as it was our journey and we designed our home with our style, and a lot of love and hard work went into it. I have picked up many ideas and tips along the way, so here are some of them if you’re interested in starting a home interior blog or social media account.
Social Media
When I started out blogging wasn’t huge, but it was more important to have a blog than social media. You shared everything on the blog and people followed your social accounts to get updates on your blog. Then blogging became much bigger, and people loved following what you were up to. Then social media accounts really hit off, Instagram came along and people shared so much on there. I would share my photo a day, and it didn’t matter if the picture wasn’t perfect. Gone are those days! Now so many interiors have beautiful photos that are very styled and very perfect.
Social media accounts are a must when it comes to home interior accounts, many people don’t have blogs alongside them, they only ever share photos and videos on Instagram. You also need to keep up with the trends, and Tik Tok is becoming a well-used social media account and the younger generation will use these places as a source of information.
Video Renovations
I love capturing our renovations through videos, my YouTube account has some videos of the house extension progress and I think people love to see what might be happening when they have their renovations. Creating quick videos for social media accounts is an important one, as social media like Instagram are promoting reels more than photos. So you need to learn some video skills, and then you need to learn how to edit your videos. You can become a full time YouTuber and earn a good wage from this.
Movavi has a range of developing tools for video and photo editing, video screen capture on Windows 10, and file conversion. You can pick from a range of tools to help you create content on both windows and mac, which will make your content stand out, look professional and grab people’s attention. Adobe Express provides a user-friendly video editing tool that harnesses AI to make it easy for anyone to create videos, even without prior experience.
Camera Equipment
Don’t be put off by the thought of needing lots of professional equipment and cameras. So many people use their phones now to take photos of their homes, the phone cameras are so good now you don’t need anything more. It also means it’s so quick and easy to be able to take photos and videos of projects your doing.
It is worth investing in some lighting, homes can be quite dark in places, and create lots of shadows, so when you want some extra lights or to make some part of your home pop, try some lighting stands to give you that well-needed light.
Tripod or gimbals are great for keeping your camera steady, when doing video tours you want a steady hand, so a popping it in a gimbal or tripod you can keep it nice and smooth.
Angles and Multiple Versions
When it comes to taking a photo of a finished room, I take so many different versions and photos from different angles. Get down low, lift up the camera, use plants in the shot, and close up of items. This means I can clean and style the room once, and then use the different photos over a set time. You may also find once you get to edit the photos, you don’t like that angle on the screen. Some of the top interior content creators on Instagram only ever use their styled photos that were taken at the same time, then use them over and over.
Sizing
You need to take the same photo/video in different sizes! Yep, that is as annoying as it sounds, but Instagram reels like it 9:16 portrait, and YouTube want it horizontal. So you need to think about how you will want your photos on your blog too, making sure you create all this content at the time as you can’t go back when you’re renovating!
Bulk Uploading
Once you have all this content, then you can use a content planner like Planoly. This allows you to plan out your content so you can display your photos correctly, add content regularly and bulk upload your content in one go. You could be really efficient and get a month’s content creation ready to go in one morning’s work.
I hope that has helped you with some tips when creating home interior content, it can be something you can really have fun with and it has a great community.
