I was looking for a wooden herb planter for the garden for a little while and couldn’t find quite what I was after. Until I found this Woodside 5 tier wooden herb planter on Amazon. It needed a little bit of love from me so it tied in nicely with my garden.
What Was In The Box
Including the box were all the pieces of wood in a flat pack form, with the screws to put it together and hooks you can add on if you want.
The instructions told you to put all the triangle edges on first, then the fronts, but you can’t do that. You need to work from the top to the bottom and put on each shelf one at a time. If you put anything below this bottom front screw you won’t be able to fit the screwdriver in to tighten.
So make each little shelf one by one from the top down.
The little side triangles are screwed in from the back panel, and the front panels are screwed in from the front. We used our Ryobi cordless screwdriver, which was perfect for this.
Finished Natural Wood
The wooden herb planter is finished in a natural wood that seemed quite bare wood. I decided I wanted to paint this and the wood sucked up the paint, so needed two coats. We used Urban Slate by Cuprinol
Plant Up With Chosen Plants
I had a few herbs that needed to be added to this, and then I popped in some strawberries (I will add some straw under them to protect the berries from the soil)
Slate Names
I think they look really sweet when a wooden herb planter has some name labels in them, also we’re bound to forget what is what! I purchased these slate name labels which are perfect for this planter. Great size at 2cm x 15cm, and I used a whiteboard-type pen to mark them, which didn’t work well long term!
Waterproof Pen
You can purchase waterproof pens in all sorts of colours and sizes. So I picked up a silver marker in 2mm size and this looks much better and doesn’t wash off in the rain.
So I hope you liked what I did with this wooden herb planter, and I might be tempted by another one so I can add more. The strawberries are doing really well, so maybe on full of those!
