Love to travel? Can’t wait to take your kids on family adventures? There’s no denying that traveling with kids can be incredibly rewarding, but it also presents its own batch of problems when it comes to packing.  Gone are the days when you could comfortably pack everything into a single case, or even squeeze the essentials into your hand luggage. Regardless of your travel situation, your kids have way more needs than you do, and you might find yourself wondering how on earth you’ll be able to pack everything without bringing a literal wagon along with you.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed at the thought of hitting the road with your kids in tow, you’re definitely going to find value in these four packing hacks.

Buy As Much As Possible In Advance

Making last-minute stops to buy snacks, medication, formula, and other essentials is rarely the ideal solution. Not only will you probably end up spending more (especially if you’re buying in airports, gas stations, or tourist hotspots) but you’ll deal with the unnecessary stress of needing something NOW and not knowing if you’ll find it.

So, be smart and make a list of everything (within reason, of course) that you’ll need to bring with you. Use online pharmacies like www.hightownpharmacy.co.uk to buy things like travel sickness bands, sunscreen, and allergy tablets in advance, delivered straight to your door for convenience.

Pack Separate Bags For Each Child

The easiest way to make sure each of your children has what they need is to pack their bags separately. This is easy to do whether you’re heading on a road trip or catching a flight—as long as they have their own seat on the plane, they should, at the very least, be allowed to bring a bag that’s small enough to fit under the seat in front of them.

Along with the essentials (spare pair of clothes, wipes, diapers, and so on), you can also pack things to keep them entertained on the journey and comforts from home. Keep each bag in the vicinity of each child and you’ll easily be able to grab the one you need.

Use Packing Cubes to Create More Space

You’ve probably heard about packing cubes before, but if you haven’t already invested in some, do it! It’s surprising just how much extra space they can create. And, of course, there’s an art to using packing cubes the right way. Dedicate a single cube to each family member (this will prevent over-packing) and roll each item to double the amount of clothing you can fit.

Many of us tend to over-pack unnecessarily anyway, filling our cases with footwear and accessories we don’t end up using. Using packing cubes forces you to think about what you really need.

Plan the Napping Essentials

There’s nothing worse than a long road trip or flight with a fussy child who could really use a nap. You want to make it as easy as possible for your kids to sleep during your journey, for your own peace as much as everyone else’s!

Make sure you have pacifiers, blankets, ear muffs, and anything else that has proven successful in helping your little ones to sleep before. They’re worth the extra space they’ll take up.
