Living where we do means we have an array of things to do near us. I love heading into the peace of the countryside but it’s also lovely to take the kids off to the coast and explore what’s on offer.
Whilst we had Nana staying with us for a week during the school holidays we were invited along to Kidz Island which is on South Parade Pier in Southsea. It’s a traditional style fairground on the end of the pier within easy access of Southsea.
I thought it would be something that appeals to all ages of our family, from the twins who are 10 to Nana who is 72!
It was easy to find as you just need to look out for the Helter Skelter at the end of the pier!
Unlimited Rides
When you arrive you have the option to pay for a wristband for £7.50 which gives you unlimited access to all the rides, or if you want just a couple of rides it’s £1 per token.
Dodgems
My kids love the dodgems but as you usually have to pay per person per ride it can mount up, but not at Kidz Island. By having the unlimited wrist bands they could go on them so many times and they certainly made the most of it!
Once their turn was finished they would jump out, rejoin the queue and get back on them again! My son said the £7.50 was worth just coming to spend the whole time on the dodgems!!
Even Nana went on them which was great to see her having fun with her Son and Grandkids!
Ride For All Ages
There was a great selection of rides here, I would say the rides are for the younger kids though, my twins at 10 were too big was a few of them. But I think that’s what’s great about Kidz Island as it’s suitable for all the family. If you have younger children ranging up to older ones then there is something for them all. You could leave the older ones playing on the dodgems whilst the younger ones use the flying planes, trucks and swinging chairs.
The kids love a helter-skelter and this one was a large traditional looking one too. Sat on the end of the pier you got a great view from the top!
There is even a small rollercoaster to go on too!
Stalls
For a bit extra money, you can have a go at the stalls, with hook a duck or ring the bell you can see if you win anything. It was nice to see you got a prize for every turn too which is lovely for the kids.
Refreshments
There was a good selection of food and drink to pick from as well, with a coffee stall, sweets, ice cream and candy floss.
The ice creams were yummy and the candy floss went down very well!
Parking
We parked in the Seafront Canoe Lake Car Park which was about a 3-minute walk to South Parade Pier, with plenty of parking and a machine that you can use your card in too.
Overall
So if you’re looking for some family fun and a place you could take your kids to keep them all happy then a trip to Kidz Island on South Parade Pier in Southsea is a great place to head to. As it’s right in Southsea seafront there is plenty of places to visit whilst your there too to make a full day worth of fun.

I love Southsea, we go there often but never been on that helter-skelter! We ought to have gone again during the summer holidays really but thought it would have been rammed!

We love the seaside so much – so nice to get some sea air. Always a bonus for the kids if there is a pier and fairground rides to go on too!
There it was fresh air for sure, a storm was coming!! You wouldn’t think it from the pictures!
How lucky to be within easy reach of the seaside. The helter skelter was always a favourite of mine, as well as a go on the 2p machines.

South Parade Pier sounds like great family fun. The wristband with unlimited rides for £7.50 is brilliant value. Makes much more sense given that kids love going on rides again and again!
Brilliant having that wristband isn’t it, means I didn’t have to say no to any more rides!

You can’t beat a pier for it’s entertainment. Especially at that price, that’s amazing! I agree with your son, the dodgems alone is worth it!

Sometimes i think i am a social animal who love to visit different places with family and meat different people. That’s how my most money gone but it gave me fantastic memories. BTW you pictures are really great.
