Whilst we were visiting Newquay with Parkdean Resorts in June we visited some fantastic places. So I wanted to share them in more detail with you. I can also pin them on my ‘Places We’ve Visited Map‘ which gives my readers lots of ideas of places to visit.
Holywell Bay Beach
Holywell Bay is a beautiful sandy beach in Newquay, and as I’ve since found out from our visit Cornwall has so many stunning sandy beaches to choose from that you’re really spoilt for choice!
Holywell Bay is about a 5 minute walk down a track from the toilets and car park which makes it really peaceful beach.
But it’s large! So if you’re planning on setting up around the corner from the sand dunes, you need to add another 5 minute walk back to the toilets and car park!
Holywell Bay School Of Surf
We visited Holywell Beach because it was close to the caravan van park we were staying at but we also wanted to try out the Holywell Bay School Of Surf which is on the beach here.
My girls had never tried surfing so were a little nervous, but the instructor was brilliant. He put them at ease and was patient with them. They loved it!
They couldn’t quite get the balance to stand up, but I think that was more nerves to try it!
They did ‘ride the waves’ though and that was enough for them to feel they had achieved surfing! They know have the knowledge that Holywell Bay Surf School gave them and I am sure next summer they will want to visit the best beach in the UK for surfing waves!!
Announcing as soon as they had finished they wanted a surfboard for when we go to the beach!!
Sand Dunes and Caves
Whilst we were waiting for them to finish their 2-hour lesson we chilled out on the beautiful beach. It’s edged with large sand dunes that people were bodyboarding down!
Also edged with large cliffs with the coastal path along them so you can walk around the top along, and underneath you’ll find caves to explore inside!
We haven’t really got caves near us so it was fascinating to be able to explore so many around Cornwall on our weekend.
We loved Holywell Bay Beach so if your in this area it’s well worth a visit. Just be aware of the distance from the toilets and carrying everything from the car. But when you get to the beach it’s worth it for the peace and natural beauty.
Having a clear checklist can make beach days with kids so much easier and far less stressful. This guide on what to pack in your beach bag for a fun family day out is a great way to make sure you have all the essentials covered.
We visited Newquay and collaborated with Parkdean Resorts but I wasn’t asked to write this post.
