UK holidays are such a great way to travel as a family, you can explore the country we live in and get away from the hassle of daily life. When you’re at home it’s so easy to just quickly get that job done, but when you step away from the house you instantly switch off.

So with this in mind, we were invited by Parkdean Resorts to visit one of their holiday parks in Newquay and review all the exciting things to do in the area for their Best Of Britain campaign . We had a fantastic weekend together, visited some stunning places and had a great family weekend. It was a beautiful experience, and we managed to do this thanks to car hire from Enterprise, which added convenience and comfort to our memorable journey.

Holywell Bay

Parkdean Resorts have four holiday parks in and around Newquay but I was really keen to visit Holywell Bay Holiday Park due in no small part to its amazing location. It ticked every box for us as a family and what we love to do whilst we’re on holiday.

Holywell Bay was really easy to find, it was well signposted from the main roads and we had no trouble getting there. When we arrived I loved the fact that it was nestled in a small valley down a twisty road as it felt like you were REALLY getting away from it all. And getting away from it you are as none of us had any phone signal once we dropped down into the park too! It’s perfect if you’re looking for some quality family time without any distractions. There is free Wifi in the main entertainment area and you can purchase Wifi for the caravan if you really can’t do without.

A small building labelled Reception stands near a car park with a black car and a silver car at the Holywell Bay holiday park. Two people are entering, with a picnic table, flower beds, and trees in the background—perfect for a weekend away.

The reception was friendly and polite when we arrived, they showed us on the map where our caravan was, as well as the facilities and any extra information that we wanted.

We were over the moon with the location of our caravan, just tucked around the corner from the main entertainment facilities, but not close enough that you could hear it all. We also had a good size play area behind the caravan for the kids to play on whilst we were unpacking and having a cup of tea!

A grassy playground with climbing frames, slides, and swings—perfect for a weekend away at Holywell Bay Holiday Park. Two people stand near the swings, with trees and a green caravan in the background under a cloudy sky.

Trewen Caravan

We stayed in the Trewen caravan which was an extra-wide 3-bed caravan which can sleep 6 in beds and 2 extra in the lounge on a pull out sofa. It was lovely and clean, beds were made on arrival and there was also an en-suite to the main bedroom.

A neatly made bed with two pillows and white bedding sits beneath a wooden shelf with cream-coloured cupboards in a small, sunlit bedroom—perfect for a weekend away at Holywell Bay, as highlighted in any glowing holiday park review. A small, beige bedroom with a double-door wardrobe, wall mirror, and an open doorway leading to a compact bathroom. Perfect for a weekend away at Holywell Bay holiday park. The corner of a white bed is visible in the foreground.

The caravan layout was good for us, with 2 twin rooms down one end of the caravan and our main bedroom down the other end of the caravan. With the kitchen, lounge and dining area situated in the middle.

A small bedroom with two single beds, white bedding, a wooden bedside table between them, overhead cupboards, and a window with sunlight streaming in and trees visible outside—perfect for a weekend away at Holywell Bay holiday park. A cosy living room with a patterned light blue sofa, a flat-screen TV on a wooden stand above an electric fireplace, a large wall mirror, and views into a bedroom—perfect for a relaxing weekend away at Holywell Bay Holiday Park. Modern mobile home interior with a patterned L-shaped sofa, small kitchen area, fridge, microwave, dining table with chairs, and large windows letting in natural light—perfect for a weekend away at Holywell Bay holiday park. A compact, modern kitchen at Holywell Bay Holiday Park with cream cupboards, gas cooker, oven, stainless steel sink, toaster, and kettle. A window above the sink lets in natural light—perfect for your weekend away. Sofa and radiator visible on the left.

We also had a parking space outside right next to the caravan with a veranda and patio furniture to sit outside overlooking the play area.

A blue car is parked next to a light green caravan at Holywell Bay. Two people stand outside on the grass, enjoying their weekend away. Other similar caravans and trees are visible in the background under a partly cloudy sky.

All the showers were clean with lovely hot water and the kitchen was well equipped. With all caravan holidays, you do need to remember to bring along tea towels, washing up items and towels including hand towels.

Park Facilities

Holywell Bay is a really lovely Holiday Park, it’s so clean and well looked after. We had a walk around the full park and everywhere was well looked after. Holywell Bay isn’t massive but that makes it nicer. I have been to some really large holiday parks but after visiting here I really like the feel of a smaller holiday park.

They have placed some nature information boards around the park too which is a lovely way to help teach the kids about the wildlife in the area.

A yellow information sign near a tree at Holywell Bay provides details about the jackdaw bird, including an illustration and description. The sign is set against a grassy background, perfect for discovering wildlife during your weekend away.

They have a small shop for stocking up on items you need, a surf school, amusements, and a bar with a restaurant. This is where the entertainment is throughout the day and evenings. We visited on Sunday evening and it was quite full up, so it must be popular.

Heated Outside Pool

The biggest thing my kids loved about Holywell Bay was the outside pool!

Don’t worry if it’s a bit chilly outside as the pool is heated and it was like being in a bath. We used the pool twice over the weekend and both times the kids had a great time. You can’t take photos at the poolside but as you can also see they have a large 300ft flume that goes down in the rocks!

Holywell Bay Beach

A big reason I wanted to visit Holywell Bay Holiday Park was the beach. It’s only a 5-10 minute walk away from the park. There is a path directly leading from the park to the beach, so no need to drive anywhere. It is a stunning beach as well.

There are large sand dunes you can go bodyboarding down, shallow water to paddle in, caves to explore, or you can even have a surf lesson on the beach

I am so glad I picked Holywell Bay for our visit to Newquay, it provided us with everything we needed for a lovely family weekend together. I would love to visit again and spend my weekend on that beach!

*Thanks for Parkdean Resorts for inviting us to stay here.
