After completing T’s new bedroom we went shopping for some lighting.
I was really surprised to see a funky lighting range at Homebase, Habitat. The range isn’t you normal Homebase lighting but with a great retro style to it, right on trend.

Online they are have large range of styles and colour options but be aware that in store they don’t have the full range.
My sons new bedroom colour scheme is blue, grey and yellow. I wanted to pick out the yellow and add it into the lighting. This gives it a funky shot of colour into the room, I have loved being able to do this!
I picked the ‘Habitat Lula Metal Table Lamp’ and ‘Habitat Aerial Metal Pendant Light’
The online colours do not match the actual product, they are quite different to this.
The pendant light is very yellow, you can see the difference from the online product picture above. They do this pendant in a grey and teal as well. We did consider having it in grey however that’s the safe option and I wanted to have a shot of colour in there and helps bring out the yellow in the wallpaper.
When it is lit up it does only give you light downwards, don’t expect it to light up the whole room as it is metal. You can see from the picture below where the light comes out from and the walls stay dark.
We also got a desk lamp in yellow, the base is really unusual as you have the exposed cable on show. The base is in a bright yellow like the pendant but the shade is more mustard yellow.
It gives off a really good amount of light when on, lights up the room well and looks really nice.
T is really pleased with them, he thinks they are really grown up and funky!
For the people who have spotted the black desk that the lamp is sat on and thinks how out of place that looks, you are very right, that is a project waiting to be done………..!

Habitat have a few different departments around Homebase, all looks really modern and funky items.
I think you the yellow was a good choice – I think all rooms need a flash of colour and it’s so nice to see that you didn’t play it safe which is so easy to do especially in a boy’s room where it’s so easy to just go “blue”
