After purchasing a Balsam Hill Christmas Tree a couple of years ago and seeing how beautiful they are, and what amazing quality they are also, I wanted to slowly add a few more of their pieces to my house over the years. I’ve purchased this Balsam Hill White Berry Garland for my fireplace this year and I am not disappointed. It’s stunning and such amazing quality, these Balsam Hill products are going to last years and years, and I can’t wait to bring them out every year!

I will share with you a review and unboxing of the Balsam Hill Garland, along with how I have decorated my fireplace for Christmas.

Unboxing Of My Balsam Hill Garland 

I purchased my 6ft Balsam Hill White Berry Cypress Foliage Garland with 40% off, retailing at £199 but I paid £119 with free delivery. It arrived within a couple of days of ordering, in a neat box which was well packaged.

When I opened the box you could instantly see what great quality the items are, the thickness of it and how pretty it’s going to be!

Various different foliage within the garland, from fabric leaves of cedar, bay laurel, and plastic cypress leaves, dotted within all of this is white berries which I felt was a good choice to pick as this will last me years and go with whatever colour choice of decorations I pick over the years.

My Bare Fireplace! 

This is the space I wanted to fill with my Christmas decorations, it looks so empty and bare in this!

Installing The Balsam Hill Christmas Garland 

As soon as I got it out of the box I popped it on the fireplace to see the length of it, and where I would be attaching it. I haven’t fluffed up the garland yet, this is straight out of the box, it even looks lovely here!

With all Balsam Hill items, you have to fluff them up, gently pulling each branch out in different directions and mixing them all together. This creates a fluffy, larger garland that looks really pretty.

I did notice with this garland that the fabric leaves come off really easily, and we had quite a few come off. You can pop them back on easily, by finding the stalk they came off. Try and pull the garland around by the stronger stems and not hold the leaves.

This is how thick and fluff it was once placed back on the fireplace fluffed up. You can even pull it about more once it’s in the place you want it, so you can see any gaps you might want to fill. 

Battery-Powered LED Lights 

This Balsam Hill White Berry Garland comes with 60 LED lights that require 3 1.5v C batteries.

The little lights are super pretty, with a crystal-type shade over the bulb, they aren’t bright and in your face, or too harsh. With 60 little lights dotted around the garland, it’s not too much and has a nice subtle look. This is them off…….

How To Attach A Christmas Garland To The Fireplace 

I have decided this year to attach the garland to the fireplace, to give it a bit of extra support as I knew it would be much heavier than my normal garlands. I have used these command hooks. well, they’re more like straps as they strap around the garland and hook back on themselves. 

I originally thought they would be good to support the garland hanging down a bit more in front of the wood beam, but the garland was too heavy for them, or they didn’t stick to the wood too well, so this didn’t work as well as I hoped. However, it’s nice to give this a bit more support and safety even though it’s sat on the beam. 

I am so pleased with how my Christmas fireplace has turned out, it’s super pretty to have in the lounge and makes a really cosy feel to the room. The Balsam Hill Christmas garland did not disappoint and lived up to expectations. I would recommend this Balsam Hill White Berry Cypress Foliage Garland for your home, thick and full of foliage, with white berries to coordinate with all different colour themes, and it also comes in a large 10ft size if you would like it hanging down the sides more, or a larger fireplace. 

What Else Did I Use To Create My Christmas Fireplace? 

Adding to my Christmas fireplace is these little paper Christmas trees, these have been edged with glitter on the sides and come in both green and pink, the perfect colour theme for my living room, they retail at £5 for 2 pack from B&M. 

The pillar candles are battery-powered pillar candles from Lights4Fun, which are powered using CR2032 batteries which are included in the box. You get 6 for £24.99 and these ones have a wax dripping effect on them, but you can also purchase plain packs and no wax drips. 

The two reindeer were from Homesense quite a few years ago when I had a silver theme in my lounge, they’re really good quality but these didn’t fit in anymore, so I decided to spray paint them up in a gold finish to tie them in better. 

Covering the white of the body with cling film, kept this part clean of spray paint, and allowed the film to get under his antlers easily and protect the top of his head. 

I used the Rust-Oleum Bright Gold spray paint and gave everything a light coat about 3 times.

This silver one was full silver, but not any more! It covered really well and looks much nicer on my fireplace now. 

My lights under my fireplace beam are Philips Hue Strips Lights, these are so good and work alongside all of our other Philips Hue lights in the home. I love how much cosier it makes the fireplace when they’re on. 

On top of the fireplace are 6 tall battery-powered candles, I have had these for a couple of years and they look great on your Christmas table too. They require an AA battery inside, and you can use the remote to control them or put on a timer. The candle sticks are of various heights, but you need a little blue tack in the bottom of them to try and stop them from wobbling! 

I am really pleased with my Christmas fireplace, I hope you like it too and I am so pleased to be able to invest in a Balsam Hill Christmas Garland to add to my home.

      I am not sure how long, as I had them up a month, but didn’t turn them on every evening and I didn’t replace them in that month.
