Looking for an easy World Book Day costume? Or do your kids love Diary of a Wimpy Kid? Check out our Diary of a Wimpy Kid costume for a World Book Day costume

This year, Tyler’s school announced they were joining in with World Book Day and that the kids could join in and dress up as a character from a book. This is the first time the junior school have done this, Tyler never used to like dressing up but he was keen to do so this year.

Now the task that some Mums hate, finding a costume and one that doesn’t cost a huge amount either. I really do think boys’ outfits are harder to do than girls, luckily the twin’s school wasn’t dressing up this year so I only had Tyler’s outfit to sort out.

While there’s no need to dress up, you can use beautiful custom patches on your children’s clothes to make them look fun and personal for World Book Day.

Custom patches can be made with the portraits of characters, book patterns, or classic quotes from your child’s favourite Diary of a Wimpy Kid so that even simple clothes can make your child more eye-catching during activities. In addition to clothing, accessories such as your child’s school bags and hats can also be patched to make the overall look more layered and interesting.

With fun and beautiful patches, even the simplest everyday clothes can stand out and look bookish for World Book Day.

A denim jacket decorated with colourful custom patches—think “Cat Tempter,” “You’ll Come!,” a tiger on steps, and a red emblem. Perfect for World Book Day or as part of a unique Diary of a Wimpy Kid costume. “Custom Patches” and “Order Now” in bold text.

Tyler chose the boy from Diary of a Wimpy Kid costume., which was actually quite easy to achieve, and did not cost much money.

If you cut out a cardboard head shape with an extra bit of hair up the top and paint it white. Once the white had dried, get your black paint and paint the hair, and face. Use the book pictures to create the facial expression he has! I then glued on a lolly stick for him to hold onto. I cut some little eye holes in the cardboard so he could see!

You could finish this and be done, but if you would like to have a book as well, then save this diary image I have made, print it off and then you can glue it onto a piece of cardboard that is the same size.
