Heating the house is a large expense that comes out of our household income each month, so if I can save a few pounds and pennies on it each month then I will do my best to do so. With our new extension, we need to look new central heating boilers so I will be doing some research into finding the most efficient and most reliable boiler on the market that is within our budget. We don’t want to be getting up one winter’s day and finding the boiler not working, and we’re all freezing!  But there are some little things we can do in the home to make it more efficient.

Five Ways To Use Your Central Heating Efficiently

Keep each room door shut

Shutting the doors to rooms allows that room to be heated efficiently. You need to allow the hot air to rise, circle around the room cool, and then sinks. This then travels back to be heated again. Keeping the hot air in each allows this to work well.

Reflective Panels

Placing reflective panels behind each radiator allows the heat to bounce back into the room more easily and doesn’t escape into the house walls.

Install Smart Products

When having your central heating installation done, look into having smart products added to your home. You can then have much more control over your heating which then allows you to turn it on and off easily, have different times of the day set at different temperatures, and can even tell when you are not at home. Take a look and see if Worcester boilers can be controlled with smart products to make everything more energy efficient.

Turn Down Thermostat by 1º

Even turning down your thermostat by 1º can save as much as 10% on your heating bills, so think about how you feel within your home and turn it down just that little bit. Pop on a jumper or a blanket!

Insulate Any Exposed Pipes

Any hot water going through the exposed pipes will give the heat an opportunity to escape as it’s on its way to your radiators. You can purchase insulation jackets to reduce the heat escaping.

I hope that this has given you a few ideas on how to use your central heating more efficiently and in turn, it then saves you money.
