One of my favourite things to do on online is to see how others display their favourite art pieces on walls – this is most likely because I haven’t got around to fixing any wall art and my walls are bare and boring. I keep seeing all these stunning large-scale wall panels or even colourful tapestries that adorn walls and make interiors that bit more exciting and interesting and I want the same for my home! How difficult could it be to fix wall art?

Actually, it’s not difficult at all and today I’m going to show you how to do it! For some expert advice, I’ve partnered up with Speedy Fixings, who supply all the equipment you will need to fix anything you’d like on your walls, from drill bits to wall plugs.

If you don’t have much space on your walls and would prefer to have your décor displayed in a different way, why not try to hang it on ceiling hooks? House plants are an all-around favourite to give colour to walls while floating from above.

Get Inspired

Not sure what to add to your walls? Then, it’s time to get inspired. Maybe you are looking for something different, something that’s not photographs or paintings, something that would make your space stand out. Elle Decor published an article with designer-approved ideas to transform a blank wall and I couldn’t be more obsessed! From combining ceramics with prints to, hanging canvases, and hanging dangling frames, there are so many different ways to completely transform your bare walls.

Use The Space

It’s important to think about the practicalities of the room. As this article on House and Garden mentions, “a small picture can be lost on a large wall, while a more substantial artwork could dominate a room.” So, before you start hammering and drilling, think about the pieces you want to add to your walls and how these will work on the space you’ve got.

Getting Down To Business

Now, that you know what you want to display and how you want to display it, it’s time to grab your get down to business.

What you will need.

  • Power drill.
  • Drill bits.
  • Wall plugs.
  • Wall art.
  1. Before drilling on your walls, make sure that there are no hidden cables and pipes.
  2. Then, grab your drill and your correct drill bit and drill into the wall. Clean the hole afterwards to make sure there is no debris.
  3. Insert a wall plug into the hole. If you are having a hard time inserting it all in, lightly tap it with a hammer to level the plug with the wall.
  4. Then, grab your drill again but this time with a screw and drill the screw into the wall plug. Do not fasten it all the way in. Now, you have a little hook that you can use to hang pictures, frames and other wall art. Easy, peasy, right?
