Are you looking for a well-made, good-quality Japanese steel knife? If so take a look at my review of the Katto Knife

Katto knives are handmade Japanese steel knives that have been made to be stronger, more balanced, and of course more beautiful. Not only are they made from Japanese steel, but they are also made from sustainable wood.

A plate of fresh vegetables, including cucumbers, carrots, and peppers, with a Katto Knife resting on top. The background shows a blue door and light-coloured walls.

The handles are all handmade from sustainable wood, but as they’re all handmade don’t expect no two knives to be the same. They’ve been tested and made to the same top standards, but each has a little character and individuality.

A plate with cucumbers, carrots, and red and yellow peppers is topped with a large Katto Knife—perfect for slicing fresh produce. Ideal for anyone seeking a quick Katto Knife review in action.

Katto makes a range of four knives as they feel this is all you will ever need.

  • 8.5″ Chefs knives (robust all-rounders)
  • 7.5″ Santokus (a lighter, more agile alternative)
  • 6″ Utilities (our smallest, most nimble size)
  • 10″ Serrated bread knives

What I liked is also if you want to add more than one knife to your order, they will deduct 10% from your order, with free next-day shopping and returns.

A plate with cucumbers, carrots, and peppers is on a kitchen worktop. A chef’s knife with a wooden handle, featured in Katto Knife Reviews, rests across the vegetables. Blue cupboards are visible in the background.

Santoku Knife

I ordered a Santoku knife, which is lighter and more agile than a chef’s knife but is a great knife for meat, and veg preparation. Measuring 32cm long (including handle) and a blade size of 19cm it’s a good-sized knife without the weight of a chef’s knife.

A chopping board with sliced cucumbers, carrots, red and yellow peppers, and a chef’s knife. Whole red and yellow peppers and a carrot sit beside the board—perfect for your next Katto Knife review or meal prep session.

Delivery

Delivery was quick with the next day delivery and when it arrived it was packaged so nicely.

A hand holds a rectangular parcel wrapped in plain brown paper and tied with white string, with purple flowers and green foliage in the blurred background—perfect for gifting after reading Katto Knife Reviews.

This would make a lovely gift for someone as it was packaged nicely, but you can also add monogramming to your knife. Adding up to 3 letters to the handle.

A hand holds a brown box with the word KATTO in bold white letters, against a backdrop of green plants and blooming purple flowers—perfect for any Katto Knife review or unboxing moment.

If you believe the old wives tale that you must not ever gift a knife to someone, then you will love the little extra inside this package. A little note from the company, with a gifted 1p as that counteracts the bad luck of gifting a knife!

A cardboard box labelled KATTO is open, filled with white packing peanuts and a wooden Katto Knife. Next to it are a letter and a small card with KATTO branding, placed on a light-coloured surface.

Don’t forget you can put those packaging nuggets in the sink and wash them away under the tap

A rectangular cloth bag with KATTO in bold black letters lies on a white surface. A Katto Knife, featuring a white blade labelled KATTO and a wooden handle, is placed diagonally across the bag—perfect for your next Katto Knife review.

It also came with a canvas Katto bag, this doesn’t seem to be something you add. Just a thoughtful extra.

Scabbard

If you need to store your knife in a drawer then you need a scabbard to keep the knife safe. It comes with a card one for nothing or add a leather one on for £15.

A close-up of a Katto Knife with a wooden handle and a white blade guard, partially covering bold black letters printed on a beige fabric background—perfect for any detailed Katto Knife review.

Different Handles

The knives come with a choice of handles, I went for Nala which is a beech handle, with a gold ring. This goes well with my kitchen interiors! They also come in Henry (black walnut), and Olivia (rosewood).

Cutting

Of course, all we want to know is does it cut well?! Well, the answer is it cuts amazing! We have cut meat, veg, and fruit all with ease. It’s become our go-to knife when preparing food.

A person slices a cucumber with a Katto Knife on a wooden chopping board. In the foreground, a plate holds a cucumber and colourful bell peppers—yellow, orange, and red. The person wears a ring and a smartwatch.

Katto offers a knife quiz for you to take which helps you decide which knife would be best for you, and what you need it to do. They also offer free knife sharpening at their head office, what a brilliant service.

I hope this has helped you if you’re looking for a new knife to add to your kitchen, please do take a look at Katto knife.
