Today we decided to go and explore! When I went to Mottisfont National Trust last year I took the wrong turning! That’s very unusual for me………..!!! I was pleased I had taken the wrong turning because it took me to the most beautiful place, there was a little shallow river and countryside all around. It looked wonderful and promised myself I would go back to that place again. So that’s just where we went today.
The starting point was called ‘Kimbridge’ there is a farm shop with Annie’s Tea Room, the carvery looked yummy by the way!
I will try to explain the route we took along with our pictures but it is all sign posted
We parked at the farm shop as we wanted to come back and have an ice cream once we had done our walk.
Walk along the road, towards and over the train track crossing, you will see a sty to climb over on the right.
We were greeted by a field of sheep, one of these sheep had a set of twins, my twins thought that was very cute.
Off we went, following the track until you got to the cross roads of paths.
There was lots of dandelions along this path and all 3 of my children to the opportunity and ran over to blow them everywhere! I was a grumpy mummy the day before as I wouldn’t let them blow them in my garden as I am trying to combat the weeds out there!!
L was doing it in the dainty way she is, S just had to shake it and then smiled at it like yes I got them all off and T put all his effort into it!
Once you reach the cross-road you need to take the right path which will lead you down to train track bridge to walk over. This proved great excitement to my children waiting for a train to go under……the whole 3 hours we were out we heard about 6 trains go past but every time we were too far away from the tracks to see them!!!
Then the path takes a left, it is a little path to follow all along, me and Rusty took the opportunity to have a rest whilst the little ones (and Daddy) to catch up again. As you can see it was lovely and shady and as it was the hottest day of the year so far we were glad of it.
You follow this path all the way down to a bridge, this bridge has a beautiful view. The river is used for private trout fishing at the local trout farm. You can purchase these at the farm shop! Rusty would have loved to get in that water!!
Then as you walk over the bridge you walk into a large open field, this is currently filled with buttercups which my little girl L loved! This was her favourite part of the walk and she would have spent all day there if she could have. She was so happy and it is moments like this that I love just watching them enjoying the great outdoors.
T went around checking to see if we all liked butter!
You follow the field right through to the other side and through the gate, hubby came across the ‘sticky plant’ and stuck this plant to the kids! They had great fun sticking it to each other, we got T and stuck one to his head and he didn’t have a clue, until I called him ‘stick head’
Follow this small path all the way along and you will get to a road, this is Mottisfont. We found a little church to sit down at and have our apples and drink. This church was built in the 1200′s, WOW! It was very very cute!
The girls found some confetti on the floor from a recent wedding, they have been talking about weddings at school so loved finding these on the floor and telling me all about it!
Rich Heath, our Center Parcs seasoned snapper, has shared some of his expert tips on how your family can have some fun with photography outdoors. Don’t forget to include the tip which has inspired you the most in your blog post.
** Take some springtime selfies of you and your family enjoying yourselves on a walk in your local park **
Now it is so hard to get a picture of 1 child let alone 3, a puppy and a hubby! Set the timer on the camera and this is what we got!
I was on the other side of the camera for once…..
If you want a longer walk you can walk further into Mottisfont and follow the footpaths but this was a long enough walk for my 3′s little legs.
So we turned around and followed the path back the way we came. L couldn’t wait to get back to the buttercup field! Look how happy she is, she loves to pose for the camera!!
Now it was Rustys turn to go wild!! He loved jumping through the field and I got some cool pictures of him.
Look at Rustys ‘come’ he always has so much energy and excitement to get back to you,
maybe something to do with the tasty sausage treats I had!
I had to get a little arty with the flowers (weeds) that we came across, it’s good practice on how to use my camera.
We got back to the farm shop car park and treated the kids to a tummy ice cream, which went down perfectly. We had a lovely family time together and I love these times.
The walk tracked at 2.7 miles which was a nice amount for my kids to walk at the moment.
