I don’t want summer to be over with, I’ve loved having the garden to be in and the warmth of the sunshine. I’ve even seen leaves falling off the trees, I’m sure Autumn is coming too soon?!
Screening
Well, the passionflower is growing super well over our screening! I love it, as it’s becoming a flower wall and gives a nice lookout from the house when sitting at the table. You can see the progress photos of it!
Eucalyptus Tree
It was my birthday in August and I really wanted a tree. So I popped some of my birthday money together and choose a eucalyptus tree! This is going to be planted in the top area of the garden next year, but I have it near the house at the moment to keep an eye on the watering.
It can grow rather big! Which isn’t what I want it to do, but I wanted a fast-growing one which will give us some screening and height to the garden. But I didn’t want to wait years for this to happen! I did lots of research to find one that would be suitable for our garden, Hardy Eucalyptus has lots of different versions and they wanted to show people that you can have one of these trees in your garden, and not have them growing 80ft tall!
I might pop this one in a large pot to keep it from growing too tall, but allow it to bush up and become thicker. Look at the funky air pod pots they grow them in to allow for the roots to spread nicely and not wrap around and around.
I’ve popped it here for the time being and I have to keep on top of the water and they’re pretty thirsty plants!
Weeding and Deadheading
It’s surprising how much weeding needs doing after a couple of weeks of not being out there due to the weather!
I have been paying attention to deadheading my flowers, as they will keep on flowering for much longer if you get rid of the dead ones.
I picked up this plant called ‘Angel Wings’ from the garden centre as I love this look and it’s so furry. I planted it in my planters but that night it got eaten by slugs, they were all over it.
So I rescued it out of there and popped it out in the front garden!
My friend got me this ornamental grass for my birthday, so exchanged its space for this instead.
I am wondering if I can rescue these seeds from my Agapanthus?? Maybe I could grow more for next year?
Fruit Trees
The fruit trees are getting closer and closer to being ripe!
Flowers That Are Growing In The Garden
I was lucky enough to be gifted these little seeds from Lawn Hero, who are a husband and wife team who specialise in creating quality wildflower and lawn seed blends. They sell seed collections in mixed colour schemes, colour version and themes like ‘Hero Blend’ which is designed to commemorate those who have fought for our country, with its blend of red, white and blue. The red poppies and the blue forget-me-nots are symbols of remembrance and the white ox-eye daisies are a symbol of Hope and Resistance.
They also sell these meadow shots which I think make a cute little gift, as you can purchase four as a set. With these shots, you just add water. The compost coin will expand, then sow a few seeds, watch them grow.
I’m looking forward to planting these and seeing what beautiful flowers appear!
Talking of seeing what grows, look at the height of Sofia’s sunflower!!!
My Clematis that I thought was dead, is certainly not! These super cute little flowers which stay bloomed for a while too, but they keep appearing! The leaves are evergreen too, so hopefully, keep this section of the trellis covered over winter.
Wedding Rose
Last month I mentioned the new Rose I got for the garden, as it was a ‘Burgundy Ice’ rose which looks very similar to our wedding rose, which I had never ever seen one that dark. It wasn’t open at the end of last month, it is now!
The photos don’t make it look as dark as it is, but it’s a velvet looking petal which is lovely as our wedding rose was a velvet type material (Fake flowers as it was December!)
Front Garden
I haven’t shown you guys much of the front garden as it was just a mud pit after the builders arrived! But I am so surprised how well it’s come back and plants I’ve planted this year have done so well. Imagine next year!
Last year I purchased a couple of ‘sticks’ off Groupon! I wasn’t sure what was going to happen to them as they looked terrible when it arrived, then the builders arrived and they got trampled and mud squashed them! BUT LOOK at them both!!
This flower is MASSIVE!
My sweetpea survived the builders, and keeps flowering if you take the flowers off. They smell amazing!
Now this flower is insane! It’s a Dahlia that I received the bulbs in a Mother’s Day gift box I received. It just keeps on blooming as well and if you deadhead it they keep flowering! I didn’t like Dahlias as you should dig up the bulbs over winter……bit of a flap but if I get flowers like this then I need more of these and I will look after them over winter for sure!!!
I planted lots of Roses as I love them and they’re easy to grow, this one is a beautiful purple.
So I hope you liked a little look around the garden and what’s going on. I think gardens are constantly changing, so see you next month!

What a beautiful looking garden. I love your patio area and your dog certainly looks like he loves it too.
Loves to find a sunny spot, then retreat to the shade, but any excuse to be out there!
