Boys bedroom renovation – one room done

We moved in the new house in November and we had decided that the one room that needed to be done straightaway was my eldest. He needed a boys bedroom, it isn’t the largest of rooms so we needed to at least make it nice quickly.

So he slept in with his little sisters whilst I did his. I was able to get in there in the evenings whilst they were all sleeping.

Oh I do not like vinyl wallpaper…….!!! It’s is waterproof!!! So the steamer was doing nothing, so ended up having to peel the top layer off to then steam off the backing of the wallpaper. It revealed bare plaster! No paint, no marks…..nothing! This wallpaper must have gone on when the house was first built and never been changed in 47 years!

So above is what it looked like when we moved in.

We choose the wallpaper from ebay, as it picked out the reds, blues and whites. The walls were painted white as it was cheap, bright and opened the room up. The bed is my old cabin bed that daddy customised to fit and be raised so that we can fit his chest of drawers underneath! He has lego storage underneath and a little den! He needed a desk for doing his homework and drawing. These pictures were taken on his first night in there, he was soooo pleased!!! We will add more bits and bobs, storage and things to make it more homely but he’s just glad to have his own space.
