When we first moved here we renovated my sons room first.
That was 2 years ago now and I have decided to do it all again! His room is the small room in the house and when we first did it we raised the bed up off the floor. This has been good but he has got bigger since then and really struggling for room.
When designing a boys bedroom you need to think about what they need as they grow as well.
The things that we wanted to think about when designing it was,
- More floor space to play on the floor
- More floor space to be able to move around easily
- Storage
- Clothes storage
- Desk
- Shelving for books and folders
- Bright
- Funky
- Not childish
- Not too grown up
- Somewhere where he can study
- Somewhere where he feels comfortable
He is starting secondary school in September and I want him to have a room he can fit comfortably in, work quietly and to be funky as well.
Having twin sisters who are nearly 5 years younger than him I think he deserves a space to retreat to!
We are going to do some funky ikea hacks that you might be interested in. Bright paint colours and clever redesigning of the room to maximise space and storage.
Together we have come up with the colour scheme of grey, blue and yellow.
I am really looking forward to being brave with this colour scheme!
Grey pendant light – Mustard desk chair – Grey Desk
Wallpaper – Yellow duvet set
Drawer knobs – Ikea chest of drawers – Hollywood paint

I love the colours that you’ve picked. We actually have grey, blue and orange in our living room so it has a similar look and feel. It’s a really nice room to spend time in. We’re just starting to think of doing up my eldest son’s room. He’s only four though so a little bit different to yours 😉
How funny!! I have this colour scheme in our snug and in the grown up sitting room too!! We have grey walls and lots of accents in chartreuse, teal and white! It’s such a lovely colourscheme — I’ve had it for 3 or 4 years now and am still not tiring of it! The Sanderson Dandelion Clocks fabric has a great mix of all of those shades! 🙂 #LoveYourHome
