If you want to spruce up your living room quickly, and add a splash of colour and comfort to your sofa, then why not make your own cushions? You may be thinking that purchasing cushions is much easier, but it can also be difficult to find the perfect pattern. Tartan scarves are everywhere at this time of year, so why not pick up a scarf you like and use it to make a cushion cover fit for your cosy lounge. Simply cut out the fabric to fit around the inside of a cushion, place it inside and sew on a zip. Simple!
Hide Ugly Cables
With today’s culture of having a TV, game consoles, DVD player and other bits in your living room, you can very easily end up with a pile of tangled cables on the floor. Instead, why not opt for tv wall mounting, and for everything else you can hide the cables in a cabinet to make your room feel clean and tidy at all times.
Create A Book Nook
If you seem to have a random space in your home which needs to be filled, why not add a little book nook for you or the kids? Stocking up on a comfy chair and loads of cushions, as well as book storage will make an unused corner of your home into something special.

Before you head over to your regular furniture retailers, take a minute to look on a site such as eBay. You might be able to find yourself the perfect piece of furniture for your home without having to fork out full price.

As a family you will visit lots of places together, so why not hang a black and white map onto your wall, and colour in every time you visit somewhere new? It will become a really fun game for your family and encourage you to visit new places.

Now that the cold weather is settled in, it’s time to whip out the scented candles. Candles are great because they save you money on heating, and also provide soft light for those cold winter nights when you want to cuddle up on the sofa with a hot chocolate.
