Over the past few months, I’ve been using a lot more spray paints in my DIY projects but I’ve found it tricky to find a true picture of comparison of the spray paints, and have been surprised by the colour once I’m using it! Especially the Rust-Oleum Metallic gold versions, they’re so many different versions of gold and as I’ve got quite a lot of gold in my new extension I didn’t want too many different versions of it.

Small open jars of metallic paint in silver, gold, bronze, and rose gold are arranged on a shelf near spray paint cans, creating a vibrant paint collection that includes popular brands like Rust-Oleum.

So I thought it would be helpful if I made a collection for you to compare the different types of Rust-Oleum spray paint on a product and not just a product picture.

Several tins from the Rust-Oleum spray paint collection in metallic silver, gold, and copper are lined up on a shelf, with matching painted jars displayed in front of each tin.

Rust-Oleum Metallic Bright Gold Spray Paint

Rust-Oleum Metallic Bright Gold Spray Paint is a bright shiny type of gold, they label it a brilliant finish, but as you can see it’s not mirrored type shiny like the lid on the bottle. It’s a lovely warm gold and matches my gold in my kitchen very well.

A gold-painted jar sits next to a can of Rust-Oleum spray paint in Bright Gold, with a light grey background and marble-patterned surface underneath, perfect to compare spray paint finishes for your collection. A small glass jar painted gold sits on a white surface in front of a can of Rust-Oleum spray paint labelled Brilliant Finish and Bright Gold. The can displays images of gold-painted decorative items, perfect for any paint collection.

I used this spray paint on my gold and marble shelves in my dining room.

Rust-Oleum Metallic Gold Spray Paint

Rust-Oleum Metallic Gold Spray Paint is a much more of a matt gold spray paint giving a duller type finish to the item. They label it an elegant finish, it has a more brushed gold look to it and a yellow tone.

A tin of Rust-Oleum metallic gold spray paint stands next to a small jar painted gold, both displayed on a white marble surface—perfect for adding to your paint collection. A small glass jar painted gold with Rust-Oleum spray paint sits open on a white surface, whilst a can of gold spray paint rests in the background.

I have used this for my shelves in my utility room

Two cans of Rust-Oleum spray paint (gold and bright gold) stand behind two small jars painted in matching shades, all displayed on a light worktop—a striking addition to any paint collection.

Rust-Oleum Metallic Bright Copper Spray Paint

Copper can be a tricky colour to get the correct tone you want, but the Rust-Oleum Metallic Bright Copper Spray Paint is a very rich copper with the brilliant finish label you’re going to get a shiny type finish with a very reddy tone to it.

A can of Rust-Oleum Metallic spray paint in bright copper stands next to a small jar painted with the same spray paint, both placed on a light-coloured surface. A small open jar with a metallic copper finish, achieved using Rust-Oleum spray paint, sits on a light marble surface, with a blurred tin featuring a classical bust and gold details in the background.

Rust-Oleum Metallic Copper Spray Paint

Rust-Oleum Metallic Copper Spray Paint with the label elegant finish gives you a shimmery type finish. It’s not as dull as the gold version and still has a bit of shine to it. Not as deep red/brown as the lid has I think.

Rust-Oleum Metallic Chrome Spray Paint

Now the Rust-Oleum Metallic Chrome Spray Paint surprised me, it’s a lot duller than I expected especially if you think it will be like the lid and a normal chrome finish. As you can see from the picture it isn’t at all.

Rust-Oleum Metallic Silver Spray Paint

Rust-Oleum Metallic Silver Spray Paint this one is very similar to the lid colour, a much more dull silver but for a silver spray paint, I think it’s a very nice silver. It has an elegant finish will you can see that shimmer in the paint.

Rust-oleum also does a range of other colours that are not in the metallic range, so I thought you would like to also see what the other Rust-Oleum spray paint looks like on a product.

Rust-Oleum Gun Metal Spray Paint

Rust-Oleum Gun Metal Spray Paint this one is pretty much what it says on the tin! A lovely finish and would look great in an industrial room style.

Rust-Oleum Rose Gold Spray Paint

Rust-Oleum Rose Gold Spray Paint is a super pretty colour, I’m not sure I would call it typical rose gold, it’s very pink and hasn’t got the more orange tinge you normally find from rose gold. I really like this colour though!

I sprayed this on some frames recently

Rust-Oleum White Gold Spray Paint

The Rust-Oleum White Gold Spray Paint is a super pretty colour, it’s a bit champagne colouring to it and would things look very nice. It matches the lid very well and you get what you expect.

Rust-Oleum Pearly White Spray Paint

Rust-Oleum Pearly White Spray Paint is what it says on the tin! It matches the lid very well and has a lovely pearlescent look to it and a nice shimmer. You will need a few coats than normal on your product though. This was 2 coats and it needs more I think.

I hope you found this blog post useful to compare the Rust-Oleum Spray Paint collection and it gives you a better idea on what the colours are like out of the tin and compared to a different version on the colour as well. Might be worth saving this off for future refernce!
