We’ve finished one room!!!
A week of wrapping up the jobs inside the house. Things like hanging the new doors and handles! We’ve always had white doors, so we thought we would mix it up and have the oak ones hung instead this time.
We started to get walls painted and lights hung!
The appliances came from the kitchen company that went into liquidation, so I needed to source new appliances. Harder than you think as quite a lot of places were running out of stock.
The electrician was here all week installing the new lights and getting those up. It’s so nice to see the bits coming together, but at the same time I don’t like it as we should have our pretty coloured kitchen doors on and things would work nicely. But with the fake oak units, it just doesn’t work. But it will all come together soon enough.
I spent 2 hours cleaning down the windows and doors in the back room, they were covered in dirt, plaster and paint.
WORKTOP TEMPLATING happened!! I was very grateful that the worktop company could fit us in again at short notice. So they came along and measured everything up.
They started the driveway, digging out all the old concrete and levelling off the mud. Filling it with scalpings.
First time I had seen my house without much in front of it since it’s been built!
Skirting boards going in! This really finished off the room getting these in. I was gifted these by Skirting World who have so many different designs to pick from. We went for ones that had more detail and height on than our last ones. Now I just need to fill them and start painting them all!!
Carpet time for Tylers room!!!
Carpet Barn has so many offcuts to pick from and Tylers room is a lovely square room that Kev can easily fit a carpet in. So a offcut is perfect. We managed to pick up a carpet that was really good quality for a great price.
Tylers finished room ready to be filled! He is over the moon with it and can’t wait to fill it up with all his things.
The driveway blocks arrived!
More appliances arrived!! I’m so excited to have a large fridge and a large freezer, we won’t have to struggle anymore for space when the shop arrives!! It also means we can batch cook and freeze up some dinners to make it easier on weekdays.
The downside of glass doors is the poor electrician has spent the day with the dog watching his every move!!!
We got an old piece of worktop from the old kitchen and placed it on there so we could use it to place the food shop on!!
Also used it to dish dinner up on!! Look we have a space that we can place 5 dinner plates!!!
Plumbing in the utility room sink so we can get it up and running and have running tap water downstairs! I won’t need to carry everything up and down the stairs to the bathroom sink!
All installed and ready to wash up!
This was our old kitchen units and sink, we kept it and it works perfectly in this space.
I’m loving the light that this room has, I think I will be spending quite a lot of time in this room as it’s so sunny and easily look out the doors into the garden.
So I have a lot of painting left to do! We thought we would be in the backroom and using it by the end of this week but things didn’t get done in time. So we’re spending the weekend before Christmas decorating, then moving the kitchen out of the lounge and start using this room for ourselves!
