How To Add Colour To Your Home
Painting
The biggest most instant change would be to paint the walls, you may think that it’s a big expensive job, but if you’re doing it yourself it’s just the cost of the paint and your time. Once you set up and move the furniture into the middle of the room it takes less time than you think but gives the biggest change and impact. Once I’m painting I am always surprised at how quickly I get it done. You could go all out and paint every wall in the room a colour or just pick out a featured wall or two. Or if your nervous, just do the featured wall and see if you like it.
Colourful Wall Art
Adding colourful wall art is a very easy way to add colour to your walls, and you can mix it up, add to it and change it super easily. I was super impressed by the selection at Fine Art America which is an online marketplace for buying and selling original art, prints, home decor, apparel, and more. They offer a large collection of products like posters, canvas prints, and even tapestries, so your sure to find something that appeals to your taste and how much wall art you would like in your home.
Houseplants
My husband is wondering when the next houseplant is going to arrive! They seem to be multiplying in our house, but I’ve realised just how rewarding they’re when you get them growing and also how much colour and interest they add to a room. An empty little corner or a shelf that needs some interest is perfect for a houseplant. You can get them in all shapes and sizes, so you’re bound to find one you love.
Lighting
Lighting can be super fun now, there are so many options out there that you don’t have to stick with just the basic lighting anymore. We have quite a few smart lighting systems in our home, which is great fun as you can change up the colours! Adding strip lighting under shelves gives interest to the room, lights up the objects on the shelves and colour to the room.
I love my kitchen lights over the worktop, they aren’t your typical kitchen lights! With a decorative glass pink lamp shades hanging off a gold rose and ivory cabling. I was able to customise these completely so you can add a shot of colour to the room like this too.
Soft Textiles
Adding colour using soft textiles could be anything like cushions, table cloths, curtains and blinds. My kitchen is full of flat colour items, so I decided to add a bit of interest in my blinds and went for pattern roman blinds. I think it’s really added some colour and interest to the room.
Furniture
Now I went big with my colour and went for blue kitchen units! I love them and love how different they are, but that’s a big commitment as its expensive to change anything like that. However, it makes the biggest impact!
I also went for pink velvet chairs which add a shot of colour and texture to the room. You could look into bringing a colourful sofa or armchair to make a big colourful impact in the room. The high street furniture shops are really getting on board with colourful interiors too.
Patterns and Textures
I think after this year we all need a bit of colourful cheer in our lives! So I hope this has given you a few ideas on how to add colour to your home

I am a huge plant fan, I tend to have a lot of succulents as they are gorgeous and all so unique. They are also easy to look after with minimal care which is always a bonus.
