When it comes to DIY and tools for our house renovations it’s all been down to Kev! I always roll my eyes when he says ‘Oh I need this new tool for this job that needs doing‘ I just think it’s an excuse to get another new tool! A bit like me and shoes! But he’s right, he saves us so much money by doing the jobs around the house himself and not having to get tradesmen in. The cost of the tool is much cheaper and if it means he can complete the job properly then it’s a worthwhile investment.
So when we were invited along to the Ryobi 2019 conference I knew that this was going to be right up Kev’s street, but what I didn’t realise is how much I would enjoy it and that it’s now given me the confidence to have a go at more DIY jobs around the house.
If I can now use a chainsaw then I can’t be scared of any power tool!
Ryobi is a brand that I have worked with a couple of times on the blog, using their electric screwdriver to build my home office noticeboard which I love and then I tried their glue gun to make glue gun snowflakes.
Both of these are powered by a battery and this is what Ryobi is all about. Their products are run on batteries but don’t think they won’t be powerful enough to get your jobs done.
We got to put some of their products to the test whilst we were at the Ryobi 2019 conference and we were so surprised by how powerful they were.
Ryobi has been developing their batteries for years now and they are outperforming their competitors throughout so many of their products. Kev tried out a competitors brand hedge trimmer and Ryobi’s back to back and he said the power in the Ryobi product was outstanding and there was no resistance when cutting through larger branches.
Being able to see the Ryobi products up close and see them in use was so useful and really made me realise that the technology into developing the batteries has improved so much in such a short amount of time, and it’s not stopping. Ryobi is constantly improving its batteries to bring more power and longer lasting.
With the freedom of cordless items comes the different chargers and batteries, there seems to be one for this product and another for a different product. Not with Ryobi! They’ve developed over 100 products with many more in the pipeline that only requires one battery! The ONE+ Range
The same battery can power your power tools
leaf blowers for the garden
and even your crafting tools!
They’ve even developed batteries that are powerful enough to be able to power a ride on lawnmower with a USB port and drinks holder!! Never did I ever think I would be driving a ride on lawnmower, but I tell you what if I’m ever lucky enough to have a garden big I am getting one of these!!
What I loved about the Ryboi 2019 conference was the fact it reignited my passion for making things, crafts in particular. Before the twins I made so much, I would have my sewing machine out all the time and made loads of things for my house.
Ryobi has a great range of crafting tools with more to come too. I enjoyed using the rotary tool to do some glass etching, such a simple way bring a piece of glass to life but would make some great gift ideas too.
With the house extension plans, I’m going to take that opportunity to start doing more crafts again. But I don’t think I will stop at crafts, I reckon I can now give so many more things a go! Watch out Kev you may need to share the shed!
*Ryobi invited us along to stay overnight and to attend the Ryobi 2019 conference but all opinions are mine and honest

How cool! I am soo not into DIY myself and I guess that is why I have never heard of this brand but they sound great. I wouldn’t even go near a chainsaw so you’re braver than me!xx
I surprised myself!
Sounds like a great day! How fun to test all those power tools. I didn’t realise they did crafting tools!
Battery powered crafting tools are such a brilliant idea aren’t they!
Looks like you had such a great time . I reckon I’d chop my arm off ha!
The guy was ready next to me…..!!
The glass etching tool looks such fun. I had no idea Ryobi did that sort of thing.
They had so many great things to try out, the etching tool has endless things I could make with it!
Oh wow! I love the whole crafting element too. You really did get to do some very cool things – especially with the chainsaw!
They have some brilliant crafting tools, it was also great to have a go at the chainsaw!!
I would love to be able to do more around the house but some of the big tools are scary. This sounded like a great conference.
Yes I think that too but this was so good to give them a try and take that fear away a bit more.
It’s really good that one battery can power different tools. Isn’t that convenient for us users?
Brilliant idea! You can have so many different tools for all over the house but one battery, so convenient!
Oh wow what a cool day to get to grips with loads of different appliances – would love to have a go at the leaf blower – I have to say thought chainsaws scare me a bit

Sounds like it was a fun conference. Looking to improve my DIY too!
Yes it’s good to get hands-on with the tools as you learn so much more then
I’ve never heard of this brand before but I love the idea of them being battery powered.
I’d be terrified of using a chainsaw but boy would I love to try one out.
Glad you enjoyed the day and it’s inspired you to get crafty, that’s always good!
I never thought I would give a chainsaw a go either! But the fact that it was cordless made it so much easier.
I have heard the name Ryobi as they have a good reputation. That rotary tool is cool, I bet there are a lot of crafts you can put that to use for
The rotary tool had so many different tools to change for different jobs too, the list was endless!
Firstly, I want a garden that demands a sit-on lawnmower … then I want a sit-on lawnmower! I think I’d be a little scared about using a chainsaw though!
Yep me too! I was scared too but felt pretty proud of myself once I had finished!
