With the summer holidays ahead of me and no holidays planned we thought we would look into getting a pool for the kids for the garden. After my patio table smashing in the Autumm, we had an empty patio in the garden! I thought this would make a perfect place to take the weight of a pool. However, I was restricted by the size of the patio.
We popped into The Range one day and there was a Lay-Z-Spa on display! The girls loved this idea as it meant it was going to be warm and would get much more fun from it as it was warm. They had been saving up for something like this for ages, so they clubbed their money together and purchased a Lay-Z-Spa Paris hot tub.
Why Did We Choose The Lay-Z-Spa Paris?
There are so many different models to choose from, but there was a few reasons why we went for the Paris over any of the others for us.
Make sure it’s big enough for you all. It’s easy to pick a smaller one due to costs, but if it means your use it more with more space and not cramped then go for the bigger one. There is 5 of us in the family so we needed the bigger one.
The girls loved the LED lights!
It has a power saving timer, “switching off” the Lay-Z-Spa Paris when it’s not in use, but it also allows you to schedule when you want the hot tub to start heating up.
The ChemConnect chlorine dispenser looks like an easy addition to the spa as it means we can place chlorine tablets inside and it can keep on top of the chlorine levels by attaching to the spa and dispense it into the water whilst it’s being used. We’re currently using up the power that came in our starter pack before we move onto the tablets though.
Cost! Priced around the £400 mark came in within their budget. There is quite a price difference with some of them, so this ticked our boxes for their price range. For those considering a long-term investment in durability and features, Heracles Wellness Hot Tubs offer premium options that reflect the higher end of the market.
Installation
First off the box is very heavy! So be aware of this when purchasing it or moving it around, as everything is inside the box.
You need to have a good solid surface for the hot tub to sit on. It weighs about 840KG once filled so pretty heavy!! We had a small patio for this which was perfect, then we purchased a foam base for it to sit on. I did think it would be hard once you sit inside the hot tub, but it wasn’t. There is some bubble wrap type flooring you put the hot tub on top of too.
The Lay-Z-Spa pump allows you to inflate it, so this makes it so easy to blow up. Instructions said about 5 minutes, but I reckon it was no more than 2 minutes.
You also need to inflate the lid. This was one bit we got stuck on as we thought it was a flooring inside! Use the pump again to pump this up, but make sure you place it inside the lid before inflating.
Once you have done this, you can thread through the LED lights. They go through on the underneath of the hot tub and are controled by a wireless remote control.
Then it’s time to fill up with water! This took about an hour I would say with a hose pipe.
Keeping The Hot Tub Clean
We did a shock treatment using the starter kit we purchased which is brilliant. It has the chlorine powder in to keep it clean, which is really important as your heating the water up. A pH minus and a pH plus, 500 ml foam remover and 25 test strips.
The shock treatment has to be left for 24 hours before you use it. The kids were counting the hours down until they could get in!
Controlling The Lay-Z-Spa Paris
It’s so simple to control, each button has a simple picture on so you know what you’re pressing each time!
Keeping It Warm
The temperature does drop when you’re using the Lay-Z-Spa Paris as the lid is off but only a small amount. When the lid is on you can easily keep the hot tub a toasty warm 40, even when it’s been set on 38! This is great for energy saving as it doesn’t need to keep warming up the water.

Overall Thoughts
We all love it! You wouldn’t think a little inflatable hot tub would work so well but it really does. The airjets are lovely but quite loud, so we turn them off but as the water is so warm we can just sit and enjoy the warmth. It’s so relaxing and Kev and I have spent a few evenings chilling in it. The time passes so quickly and it’s so nice to just switch off from everything and chat.
Although for Tylers birthday me and him sat and watched TV in it till late too!
Kev has big plans for next year, with a pergola being built, with lighting and he would love a projector!! Watch this space!!

This looks like brilliant and relaxing fun for summer days to cool down.
Yes the kids are enjoying splashing in it whilst it’s been hot.
We have the New York version and love it. We have it on 35-37 in the summer when it is hot outside but the 40 setting is perfect when it is cold
Oh I can imagine how lovely it would be in the winter!
Ah this looks and sounds fantastic! I really love hot tubs and a portable inflatable one like this would be ideal for our home!
