This year I feel like I need to get more organised, I use to be, I use to love a routine, love lists and had a place for everything. I remember feeling less cluttered and my mind was clearer.

However that was before the twins arrived, and I only had 1 child to look after! I had a great routine with the twins but everything else went to pot!

Recently we have re designed our lounge, shut off the kitchen door and created a whole new wall to fill. This has given us a lot more room to work with in both the kitchen and the lounge/dining room.

It needs to be a multi functional room. A lounge, dining room and office. It also needs to work for 5 people, and with me working from home I need a proper space that I can work at, organise myself and have a place to store everything.

I have my lovely new desk, which I just love. Just don’t open the drawers and cupboards as they are on my list to get organised!

HomeSense gave me a challenge of bringing in some new storage into our home, I got hubby to pop some new oak shelves up on the wall where the old opening use to be. I have only put one up, but I need more! It is calling to be filled with shelves and storage.

However I didn’t want to just chuck a load of stuff up on them and for it look even messier. I took a visit one morning to HomeSense, the staff must have wondered what I was doing, as it took me over an hour to decide which boxes to go for! Why do they have so much choice!

In the end I decided on these boxes to go on the shelves. They are really sturdy, with flip lids and beautiful patterns. I can fill with anything I want and nobody knows what is inside them!

I have lots of camera accessories, cables, and attachments. Now I can hide them away but also have quick access to them.

It looks really bland in this photos, but like I said I have a plan to fill the wall up with more shelves and more boxes!

I also picked up these lovely grey and white fabric ones. I have filled one with random cables and electrical items. We have  so many cables for different things, so it will be nice to know where they all are.

The other one has my daily makeup and hair items, I always do my make up in my lounge mirror so want it to hand. It also means that it is all in one place and not sat on my fireplace like it has been for years!

The other area that needed some storage was magazines, I have lots of home magazines that get piled up everywhere. So now they have a place, this storage fabric box is a really sturdy box and the perfect size to sit next to the sofa ready to pick up and read from.

I also hate all the plastic office storage items you get for pens and stationary, I wanted something a bit different. I saw a great idea of filling jam jars with pens and stationary from Caro at The Twinkle Diaries and thought how cute it was.

HomeSense is a perfect place for finding items like this, they had all sorts of sizes and styles to choose from. I think it looks really cute and now I can see where everything is and not end up hunting around all the drawers to find what I need!

I am going to make sure I keep attacking the storage issues in this house, which is also going to make me be more organised. I already feel so much better knowing where things are and not in different places. Also a big bonus is that it is easier to clean as I don’t have to keep moving things out the way to dust!

I also couldn’t resist bringing some of these beautiful flowers home with me, would you believe it they are faux flowers!

This bunch was already hand tied and I picked up a little vase from HomeSense to sit it in too.

  4. We could really do with some storage in this house but I think decluttering is the biggest problem.
I really like the box with the magazines in it then again I don’t read magazines.

    • It has made me have a good declutter, I have not wanted to put anything in these boxes that I didn’t need anymore!

    • It is so hard not to have clutter isn’t it! I think everyone does. Although now I can hide my clutter but also it made me get rid of loads before putting it in the pretty boxes!
