Pallet Herb Garden

Are you looking for some easy ideas on how to use a pallet as a herb garden? Or do you want to have some herbs to access easily in your garden for cooking? We transformed this large pallet into a herb garden right outside our kitchen door. We often use herbs in our cooking, so having them right outside the door is perfect for us to use quickly.

I collected a very large pallet from one of our deliveries, although these are super easy to find and companies are usually getting rid of them for free. Mine was plain wood so I painted it up with the same paint as I used on my fences and we attached it to the wall to keep it secure.

I purchased these little silver pots from Ikea, I have started off using 6 of them and I will add more to them and could add flowers and herbs to this pallet. Make sure you have a pot with drainage holes in the bottom, or add them yourself.

You can attach them to the pallet, although my advice is to attach them higher up on the wooden pallet. I didn’t and they flop down under the pallet wood, and because it’s angled, all the water comes out of them when you water them! So attach higher up on the horizontal wood.

Fill with soil, seeds and water!

Now I thought to myself as I was planting the seeds

how am I meant to know which herb is in which pot

How did I not think of this problem before……!!!??!! Needing the labels that day and not wanting to purchase any I had to think of using what materials I had.

We were cutting a tree down at the time so I took a few small branches and cut them to size. Then sliced a flat section off so I was able to write down the herb name.
