With the spring finally arriving and the gardens sprouting into life, it’s now time to start thinking about your gardens. I see our garden as an extension of the house. Somewhere that we can sit with a cup of tea, somewhere to sit and eat and somewhere for the kids to play. So keeping on top of the garden maintenance is really important. So I thought I would bring together some quick things you could do in the garden this spring.
Trim Borders and Plants
Give your plants a prune: trim off any dead growth and winter weeds. It’s best to get weeds now while they are small and growing slowly. Get them before the roots establish! Get tree stumps removed so they don’t rot down and cause a mushroom problem later on.
Clear Leaves and Rubbish
Considering having a garden clearance and getting rid of old furniture that hasn’t lasted the winter, old pots, broken kids’ toys and old leaves that have fallen from the Autumn. Maybe Kwiksweep offers great garden services too in London
Order Summer Bulbs
Order your summer bulbs so you can get those planted in your flower beds. These will bring lots of colour to your flower borders for the summer months. You’ll probably forget about them and have a lovely surprise when they start to pop up!
Wash Down Patios
Give your patios a good wash. I have recently washed mine using hot boiling water and cheap bio washing powder. Use a stiff brush and give them a scrub. It really did make the patio slabs come up nicely.
Look After The Grass
This is a perfect time to give your lawn some attention. Give the grass some feed, then weed out the weeds and moss that have collected over the winter. It’s a good idea not to cut the grass too short either on its first few cuts as it weakens the grass.
And if you really don’t fancy doing any of this yourself, then hire a gardener to do all of this for you!
