So the power of social media advertising worked on me when I spotted the Koh Starter Kit on offer! I was drawn in by just how powerful this cleaner was, but it was toxic-free. This is perfect for me as I have been looking into reducing how many chemicals I’m using in the house with my cleaning products, but there are some jobs that just need some chemicals to get the job done. Like the oven cleaning!

Koh Starter Kit Review

I was drawn in when I saw how the Koh cleaning products can clean up your oven without the use of chemicals. Oven cleaning has to be one of the worst jobs to do, and mostly because the chemicals used to break through the fat and burnt on food are SO strong.

So would it work……

What’s In The Koh Starter Kit

A Koh Starter Kit sits on a kitchen worktop with a cleaning cloth, spray bottle, sponge, and instruction cards—perfect for toxic-free cleaning. The background features a hexagonal tile splashback.

  • 4-litre universal cleaner
  • Atomiser spray bottle
  • 4 cleaning cloths
  • 3 diamond sponges
  • Instruction book

All of this was on offer for £19.99 plus postage

Allergy UK

What really struck me on the website was all of the certificates Koh has for all the eco make up of this product and the biggest one for me is that Allergy UK has certified this a suitable product for people with allergies and asthma. My twin girls have asthma and this is one reason why I would like to reduce the chemicals used within the home.

A white spray bottle labelled Koh from the Koh Starter Kit stands next to a brochure reading "koh, your healthier home awaits" on a black counter with a grey hexagonal tile splashback—perfect for toxic-free cleaning.

Oven Test!

OK this wasn’t a very fair test to start off with! My oven was terrible and something that has just been forgotten about and not kept up with. I will from now on as it was tough to clean up and this product is so easy to use.

Before

An open oven with a slightly dirty glass door and two metal racks inside, set against a patterned tiled floor—perfect for a toxic-free cleaning session with the Koh Starter Kit.

After

A modern oven with its door open, revealing empty racks inside, perfect for a cleaning review. The silver exterior sits on patterned tiles near a white wall and doorway, making it ideal for testing the Koh Starter Kit's toxic-free cleaning power.

Looking good now, isn’t it! So how did Koh cope with my terrible oven? Well considering Koh is toxic free and has no harsh chemicals, it did fantastically! It was so nice to be able to clean the oven without filling the house with fumes, or shutting the kitchen off and leaving it for hours to work. Koh doesn’t smell at all! You can add essential oils to it if you want to make it smell nicer when you’re using it as a general cleaner.

A person in a striped shirt is kneeling and spraying cleaner from the Koh Starter Kit on the open door of a dirty oven, choosing toxic-free cleaning in the kitchen. An open oven with a dirty glass door is shown, a towel spread on the floor beneath and a white spray bottle placed nearby, suggesting toxic-free cleaning—possibly using a Koh Starter Kit—to prepare the oven for sparkling results.

I did find that the videos I did watch was with oven doors that were flat, so the product was able to sit on the grease and start emulsifying it and breaking it down. Mine was just running off the door. When I first went to scrub off the oven I expected it to be instant removal like I had seen on other videos, and it wasn’t, but their ovens weren’t in such a bad state as mine!

I left the product to work for a bit longer and kept working at the oven door.

Diamond Sponges

Three rectangular black sponges from the Koh Starter Kit are placed side by side on a light wooden surface, perfect for those seeking toxic-free cleaning solutions.

The Koh cleaner couldn’t have coped with any of the oven greases if it wasn’t for these amazing diamond sponges. I found if I sprayed the Koh universal cleaner directly on the diamond sponge and did small circles in the area it worked away at the grease and came off.

But we aware of how much they wear out when doing a tough job. After a while of using it, it was struggling and I didn’t understand why I couldn’t get anymore grease off. Until my husband suggested using a new one, and boom the grease disappeared! These three above are lined up, one very well used one on the left, slightly used in the middle and not touched on the right. These are normally £4.99 for a pack of 3 but these are really what did the job of getting the oven cleaned up.

The glass oven top just needed to be sprayed and wiped off with the green cloth to bring it up nicely.

A black glass hob with visible stains and smudges. A green cloth and kitchen items are nearby, and the hexagonal tile splashback reflects on the hob’s surface—perfect for a Koh Starter Kit review on toxic-free cleaning. A clean, black glass-ceramic hob is shown in a kitchen with a hexagonal tile splashback, wooden worktop, and some kitchen items on the side—an ideal setting to review toxin-free cleaning with the Koh Starter Kit.

Koh Universal Cleaner

This is supplied in a 4-litre container, which has a little pouring spout on it. This makes it so easy to refill your bottle up with more solution.

I would be interested to hear if anyone knew what the arrow on the bottle is for?! I imagined it was where to line up the lid but there isn’t another matching one that I can see? The bottle is brilliant, it gives out a full mist of cleaner in one push of the button. I used a lot of cleaner doing my oven and I didn’t need to refill the bottle.

What I love most about the Koh universal cleaning solution is that it is so universal! I can use it on so many different items around the house to clean up and I don’t have to keep stopping and changing products.

Koh Cleaning Cloths

Supplied in the Koh starter kit is 4 cloths, and conveniently they have colour coded them.

  • Two green for most household surfaces and jobs
  • One white for glass and gloss surfaces
  • One blue for bathroom

These can be washed in the washing machine at a 60, I normally would like to wash my cleaning cloths all in one go at 95 so it gives them a really hygienic wash. But I put these on a wash after using them at a 60 and the colour ran out of the green one and made the white one light green now!

Glass Cleaning With Koh

I wanted to try out the glass cleaning cloth with Koh and see how it stood up to that.

You do have to be careful with cleaning products on the windows as they can leave a streaky but not Koh! It wasn’t streaky or smeary at all and sparkling windows and mirrors.

Bathroom Cleaning

Now to try out the bathroom sink, and I had a great idea to use the diamond sponge on the limescale on the waterfall tap area and behind the tap.

Before

After

Hard to show you how clean they came up as my sink isn’t as dirty as my oven!!

But I went a bit heavy handed with the diamond sponge on the waterfall tap and rubbed away the coating on the tap. It went slightly reddy looking. Completely my fault for doing too much as I could see it was taking away the limescale!

But it did well around the back of the tap and on the plug limescale, so I am pleased about that!

Cleaning The Floor With Koh

I have a white floor in the kitchen with a dog who comes in and out lots of times during the day, along with the kids! So having a cleaner that copes with that is important. So I got it to clean up the floor, including the backing that has stuck to the floor from my doormat!

Before

After

Very impressed! The one thing I did miss from using Koh on the floor was no smell, I like to smell I have washed the floor. So I’m going to add some essential oils to my floor mop next time I use it.

Overall Thoughts About Koh Starter Kit

I am very impressed with the Koh started kit, for the price of £19.99 as it was on offer with 50% off I think it’s a great product. It breaks down the grease so easily, cleans up windows without streaks, stainless steel greasy extractor hoods, bathrooms, limescale and ovens. The fact that it’s toxic free and great for homes with allergies, it’s going to appeal to a lot of people.

*I purchased this product myself, I will happily be purchasing this again and using their products in my home.

Ooooh this looks really good. I’m asthmatic myself and when I clean the oven, which is not very often, I have to admit, I almost going into full on respiratory failure. That stuff is lethal. So I’d be well up for trying something more allergy friendly and less toxic. Will definitely consider this.

  1. I bought this kit too after seeing it on Instagram ads but it didn’t work as well as yours did unfortunately

    • Oh no that’s a shame, I hate that when that happens when you’re expecting something to work really well and it doesn’t

  2. Wow this stuff looks amazing! My oven is in desperate need of a clean so might just have to get some of this x

  3. I love how simple the design is, but yet how effective the solutions are. That oven transformation is great. My eldest gets affected by perfumes so it’s nice to see a chemical free product.

    • Yes my girls hate it when I use other products, they didn’t even know I had used the cleaner with this stuff! No smell at all!

  4. I could really do with getting this myself. Cleaning the oven always seems like such a chore – but trying new products will often motivate me to do it.

    • Yes as you can see I put off doing the oven for ages too! I will try and keep on top of it now!

Hi Steph, am tempted to order this, especially for my oven door and the extractor hood and splash back. I see you are offering a further discount, having clicked on the link I don’t seem to be getting the discount showing in my basket, I was just wondering if I’m too late for this?
      Many thanks, Beverley

      • Hi, I have just checked it for you and once you click through to the payment section it should have it come off then. Thanks!

  5. Wow it really has worked well. That is some transformation. It sounds like a wonderful product and I love that it is free from chemicals.

Wow what a transformation on your oven, I really need to clean mine. I’ve recently been taking more notice of the cleaning products I use and have been trying to use more eco friendly ones too.

  7. I’m honestly mouth open wide at the before and afters!

The difference is amazing given its toxic free.

This looks like a great starter kit x

    • Amazing isn’t it, I love being able to use it on so many different areas in the house

Ooh I love the look of. this! We are trying to use zero chemicals in our cleaning but I struggle with the really gritty jobs! I need to try this!

  9. Wow look at your floor and oven! That is seriously impressive and just goes to show we don’t need all those nasty chemicals to have a clean house.

  10. I’ve almost moved away from chemicals (I use vinegar and bicarbonate of soda on almost everything!), but I’ve been looking for a good oven and toilet cleaner. Thanks for sharing.

    • It’s great not to use the chemicals isn’t it, there is just some things that need a little extra isn’t there. But is great for it
