As I’m sure many of you who has a garden knows, weeds can be the bane of our lives and anything that can help us keep on top of the weeds is something we need in our life!

We’re a big fan of the cordless Ryobi tools on the blog, they have a tool for every job you need to be done around the house and garden. And, as most of you will be aware, we are about the embark on our house extension which will include, among lots of other things, a nice new block paved driveway. Block paving can become a haven for weeds lurking in all those crevices between the blocks and we deliberated long and hard on which type of driveway to go for before deciding on block paving. Ryobi has now provided us with a great solution to help keep those driveway weeds at bay once the time comes.

Ryobi Weed Sprayer

First off though, what’s included with the Ryobi Cordless Weed Sprayer and how easy is it to assemble? After unpacking the Weed Sprayer, you will need to assemble it. It is very straightforward, simply screw in the supplied lance and spray tip and that really is all there is to it. Then just pop a battery pack into the side of the sprayer and you’re ready to go.

A Ryobi 18V cordless chemical sprayer sits on a glass patio table next to its box, hose attachment, and instruction manual—a perfect set-up for a thorough Ryobi Weed Sprayer Review beside a grey outdoor sofa.

Ryobi’s 18v Cordless Weed Sprayer is part of their ONE+ range of products and that means that they have a range of over 100 products that all use the same battery park as their power source, so one battery fits all. This means that if you already have any Ryobi products then you can simply swap out the battery from them and slot it straight into this one. Please bear in mind though, if you don’t have any other Ryobi products in the ONE+ range then you will have a purchase a separate battery to power the Weed Sprayer as it doesn’t have an option to run off of mains power.

Homemade Weed Killer

Once you’ve assembled it it’s then time to fill it with your favourite weed killer. Now regular readers will know that we’ve been trying to introduce more chemical-free and natural cleaners and products into our home, the Koh toxic-free cleaner is a great example, so we were keen to apply this to using a weedkiller around our home. We used a homemade weed killer comprising of only 3 household ingredients:

A bottle of white vinegar, Ecover washing-up liquid, and a small white container sit on a glass outdoor table—perfect for mixing solutions for your Ryobi Weed Sprayer. A grey patio sofa and lush plants complete the scene.

This will make up 4 litres of weedkiller, plenty to fill up the 3.5-litre tank of the Ryobi Weed Sprayer.

So, all that’s left to do is pour our homemade weedkiller into the Ryobi Weed Sprayer and we can get to work.

Easy To Use?

The Ryobi weed sprayer is so easy to use, with no cables to worry about you can go all over the garden, paths and driveways with easy. Using a one-touch button it takes over the spraying for you! This means your hands stay fatigue-free and able to be used for a length of time and in large areas.

A person holds a portable Ryobi weed sprayer with a yellow and white body, black battery, and clear container, standing outdoors on a path near plants and rocks for a hands-on review.

It has two types of spray action. One for a sharper pointed direct spray and one larger misty type spray. Be aware that my homemade weed killer will kill everything it touches, so I don’t recommend you use it on your flower beds. It’s perfect for large areas covered in weeds, like stones, driveways or paths.

Weeds Before The Ryobi Weed Sprayer

A garden area with uneven ground covered in flat stones and patches of weeds and grass. A few larger green plants and shrubs line the edges, bordered by low brick and concrete—perfect for tackling growth with a Ryobi weed sprayer.

Weeds 2 Days After The Ryobi Weed Sprayer

A patch of dry, rocky ground with sparse, wilted plants and weeds growing among scattered stones, next to a concrete path—an ideal spot for testing the Ryobi Weed Sprayer. The area appears neglected and lacks greenery.

How impressive is that! This area took me about 5 minutes to cover in weed killer so such a quick job and one I would happily do more often when using the Ryobi Weed Sprayer.

Overall

We’re really impressed with the Ryobi Weed Sprayer, it means I can get a job done quickly and with great results. When we have our new driveway installed I can maintain the driveway weeds with ease and great results.

Priced with an RRP £65 I think it’s a really reasonably priced tool that we will use regularly.
