Take a look at my Ryobi Patio Cleaner review where you can see the before and after using the Ryobi Patio Cleaner on some block paving. This can be used to clean in between the gaps on block paving driveways and clean the patio, with great results!
With the Winter fast approaching, I’m looking at getting all my outside jobs ticked off and ready to pack away the garden for the winter (sad times). One of them is cleaning up the driveways and patios.
At the Ryobi conference that I went to a year or so ago, I spotted this fantastic Ryobi Patio Cleaner tool!
I had my eye on it to try out for my parent’s driveway, and now we have our own driveway that needs to be maintained! Ryobi popped me a message and asked if we wanted to try out the patio cleaner for them, I knew this would be a game-changer for my parents and myself. I’ve got back issues and can’t bend over well or kneel and my parents are getting older.
Ryobi Patio Cleaner
The Ryobi Patio Cleaner is a cordless electric wire brush that spins around and cleans within gaps, and grout lines and is perfect for block paved driveways. It allows you to be able to clean out the gaps without bending and scrapping which takes so long. This does all the hard work for you! Just point and go!!

Our Patio
When the Ryobi Patio Cleaner arrived I was super excited to get it out of the packet and try it out on our patio, it needed a good clean up. However, we have porcelain tiles on our patio and the wire brush scratched them. But Ryobi now offers an additional accessory of a soft nylon brush to change over to, this is brilliant and I will purchase one of these.
We have since purchased one of the Nylon brush heads for the Ryobi Patio Cleaner and it doesn’t scratch the patio slabs.
Ryobi Patio Cleaner On Block Paving
So to show you how it works on block paving as mine is too new currently, but can’t wait to use it next year. I headed over to my parent’s house where I could try it out on their block paving and get a job ticked off for them too. They’ve not done theirs for about 2 years and had a nice amount of moss in the gaps for you to compare!
Cordless Powered By Ryboi’s One+ Battery Range
The big thing I love about Ryobi is their One+ battery range. Their tools all take the same batteries, so I can swap and change the tools over easily by using the same battery. They work so hard to make sure their batteries perform well and well as not become too big and heavy for the user to use.
This battery is quite a small one, but I would recommend using a strong rating one as this didn’t last too long doing this job. So the Ryobi patio cleaner must take a lot of battery juice to run it. But we have a couple and can charge them up easily whilst using the other one.
Easy To Control
The Ryobi patio cleaner has a comfortable handle to hold, with two trigger buttons. One on the top that needs to be pressed when starting it up. Then you can hold the trigger button down underneath to keep the patio cleaner spinning. I would have liked to be able to have it so you can lock it off to keep it running rather than having to hold it continuously.
Lightweight
With my back issues, I was worried it would be a little heavy for me to use, but it wasn’t at all. The weight on the Ryobi website is 2.9kg without the battery and 3.3kg with it. So I had no issues at all and was really impressed.
Height Adjustable
Being height adjustable is really important as this allows you to stop bending over too much and different family members can use it without having to unscrew the product.
You use the grey button below to adjust the height of the pole, and then the turner to adjust the dark grey handles angle, either flatter to the pole or stick out like this. Great for folding up for storage too.
Ryobi Patio Cleaner In Use
We were really impressed immediately with how well the patio cleaner kicked out the moss and dirt from the gaps.
The patio cleaner wants to pull and work once it’s grabbed onto the ground, so you need to guide it and control it. Then once in a little grove, it can easily be pushed along to kick out the dirt. Take a look at the video if you want to see it in action and how well it kicks out the dirt.
You can see here the dirt coming out from the gaps, it was pretty satisfying to watch!
I have since purchased the Nylon brush for the Ryobi Patio Cleaner and we used it to clean our driveway block paving, it worked well, not as strong as the wire brush, but I didn’t leave the marks on the blocks like the wire brush did.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Can you see the white-looking lines in this photo? This is where the Ryobi patio cleaner has cleaned off the dirt along the edges!
This might bug me, but then I saw that Ryobi now does a Ryobi Patio Scrubbing Brush that is cordless. Now, this would work so well together, as you could use the patio cleaner to scrub out the gaps and then the patio scrubber to clean the tops off!
I also then thought that you could use the Ryobi Weed Sprayer that I reviewed previously to keep spray into your clean gaps and kill any weeds. So as a collection of three items, your driveway will be beautiful!
Overall Thoughts Of The Ryobi Patio Cleaner
I am really pleased! I was worried about having a block-paved driveway and the maintenance of it, but loved the look. But with this now I can easily keep on top of it, getting rid of the weeds easily and then keeping on top of them.
Before and After
Here is your full driveway before and after, you can’t see so well like this compared to your close up but you can see how the gaps are darker and not fluffy and green now!

What a great job it did, you can see such a difference to the drive.
Thank you, was pleased to help them out
I would love something to help tidy up my awful patio. It really needs sorting!
Super easy to use as well!
Oh no! Such a pain that it scratched your porcelain tiles. It looks like it did a brilliant job on the rest of the patio though. I would love something like that to do my back garden (until now, I’ve borrowed my friends’ Karcher)
Yes it worked brilliantly on the block paving edges!
This looks brilliant, much better than a normal jet washer. The results are brilliant.
I like how compact it is as well. Great bit of kit x
It really cleans out the gaps, doesn’t it!
This looks great. I love a good before and after shot too. Looks really versatile and easy to work too. I bet a good gift!
Yes I think someone would love to get this, my Dad was very impressed with it and how much easier it made it
Wow that’s an impressive transformation! I really need to get something like this because our patio could do with a really good deep clean 🙂
Great little piece of kit isn’t it!
I’m always up for finding a great gadget and I can see my parents really digging this as a Xmas present! Thanks for highlighting and I’m pleased it has worked so well. Do you know how often the wire brushes have to be changed? Do they last a while do you know?
Oh I’m not sure how often, so far so good with it. It saves a lot of bending over and got the job done so well!!
